Eagles to face Franklin County Friday night
The East Jackson Eagles
hope to continue their win
ning streak this week when
they face Franklin County
away.
The Eagles (3-0) were off
last week.
The Eagles have been led
this season by sophomore
quarterback Drew Rich
ardson who has 464 yards
passing on 39 completions
and three touchdowns. Rich
ardsons completion rate after
three games is 71%.
In rushing, the Eagles have
been led by junior Quay Hill
with 220 yards on 60 carries,
Richardson with 145 yards
on 28 carries and Jazeil Les
ter with 101 yards on 11 car
ries.
Among receivers, the Ea
gle leaders are sophomore
Braxton Goolsby with 181
yards on 15 receptions and
senior Talan Jackson with
150 yards on 10 receptions
and two touchdowns.
On defense, the Eagles
have been led by Corbin
Gillespie with 26 tackles (14
solo), Aaronn Blackmon with
23 tackles (18 solo) and Ty-
quese Gresham with 22 tack
les (11 solo) and two sacks.
CHS Volleyball
Commerce Tiger volleyball team to
host two region games next week
The Commerce Tiger
volleyball team picked up
one win last week, but also
dropped two games in a mix
of region and non-region
contests.
The Lady Tigers (6-21
overall, 0-7 region) were
to have faced Loganville
and Westminster Christian
Academy on Sept. 12 in two
non-region games.
The Tigers will face St.
Francis on Sept. 14 away
then will host Rabun Coun
ty and Athens Christian in
region games on Sept. 19.

They competed against the
teams from Helena, South-
side, Hewitt-Trussville,
Florence, Oak Mountain
and then Thompson, the
hosts, for the champion
ship.
The Dragons won all six
games and only dropped
one set to Southside.
The previous Thursday
in home action, the Lady
Dragons downed Seckinger
3-0, avenging an earlier loss
to the team.

country team finishes
3rd at North Hall
Hosting meet this week
The Jefferson High School cross country girls had
a strong showing at the recent North Hall Invitational
finishing 2nd out of 23 teams (165 runners).
JHS will host the Dragon Invitational this week on
Sept. 14 at Lamar Murphy Park.
The Lady Dragons were led by Hannah Schroeder
who finished 9th and Lily Janning who finished 15th.
Other top contenders were Lauren Hailey, Kira Ste
vens, Lily Gaddy and Sasha Thomason.
The JHS boys had a respectable showing despite
missing three of their top runners due to minor injury/
illness, finishing 7th out of 22 teams (200 runners).
Leading the boys were Garrison Lee who finished
7th and CJ Leffords who finished 14. Other contenders
for the boys were Trey Adkins, Dylan Johns, Ben Nun-
nally, Ryan Schmidt and Jayden Hoopaugh.
