September is Library
Card Sign-up Month, a
time when the Jefferson
Public Library joins librar
ies throughout Georgia to
remind everyone about the
valuable resources available
with a free public library
card.
“From borrowing books,
ebooks, and audiobooks to
help with your technolo
gy, learning new skills, or
attending a book club or
story time, a library card
helps everyone do more of
what they enjoy while sav
ing money,” Jefferson li
brary leaders said. “There’s
something for everyone at
Jefferson Public Library,
and signing up for a library
card is the first step on the
path to academic achieve
ment and lifelong learning.”

clude:
•Carol Osborn is start
ing chair yoga at JPL. Vis
it the library on September
27 at 3:30 p.m. for gentle
stretching and exercises to
increase flexibility in this
beginner-friendly class.
You’ll move your major
joints in their full range of
motion for enhanced mobil
ity, and perform strengthen
ing movements to improve
muscular strength and en
durance all without getting
down on the floor.
•Lego Day will be back
once again. Due to the li
brary’s closure over Labor
Adair, 20 months,

the Jefferson library’s
Friday storytime.

Day, Lego Day has been
rescheduled for Saturday,
Sept. 23, from 9 a.m.-
2:30 p.m. Come hang out
with other Lego fans, play
with the library’s sizable
brick collection and create
something.
•Adults and little ones
under the age of 2 can al
ways visit the library on
Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. for
Bouncing Babies, but the
baby storytime has some
thing extra special in store
for September. In celebra
tion of National Literacy
Month, babies (and others)
can participate in an addi
tional early literacy activity
to accompany storytime.

reminds the community that
September is “Library Card
Sign-up Month.”
“What can you do with
your PINES library card?
Books and DVDs for all ages
are just the start,” library lead
ers said. “As a member of the
Piedmont Regional Library
System (PRLS), the Harold S.
Swindle Public Library now
has Chromebooks available
for checkout. The Chrome-
books were made available
through the GREER Grant.
These are available free with
your PINES library card.
Stop by today and check out
all the resources the library
has to offer.”

3-5 p.m to paint pirate ships
on canvas to take home. The
program is free and open to
ages 3 and older with a care
giver. The program will be
held at the Library Annex at
the Benton Center.

ies in the Park featuring Tim
Burton’s “The Nightmare
Before Christmas” at Nich
olson City Park on Saturday,
Oct. 14, at approximately
7 p.m. Costumes are encour
aged but not necessary.
