Art in the Park held at Hurricane Shoals
Billy Bearden (Georgia Flagger) attended the 32nd
anniversary of the Art in the Park festival at Hur
ricane Shoals Park. Here he is shown in the Her
itage Village where living history demonstrations
and Civil War re-enactments took place. The Battle
of Kings Tanyard was held on Saturday, Sept. 16,
and the Battle of Narrows took place on Sunday,
Sept. 17. Both battles were local and Confederate
victories.

Art in the Park organizers dumped 1,073 ducks into the tumbling waters of Hurricane Shoals Park. Each
year the event closes out the activities of the festival. Andy Garrison stated there were a record number
of ducks this year. This year’s winners are: 1st place $300-Tim Sweat and Jim; 2nd place $200- Rachael
Richards; 3rd place $100 - Kathy Wirthman and last duck Jaemor Farms Basket — April Sorrow.

Ruth Young, 7, handed out programs during the
old-fashioned church service held inside the Miles
Wilson Matthews Chapel. The church service
kicked off Sunday’s activities during the annual Art
in the Park festival at Hurricane Shoals. She is the
daughter of Joey Young who preached the sermon.

helped bag 800 pounds of corn meal over the
weekend during the annual Art in the Park festival
at Hurricane Shoals. The Garrison family has been
operating the grist mill for 31 years. The festival
was held Saturday, Sept. 16, and Sunday, Sept. 17.
Ada Woods, 10, sold her baked goods and toy slime
products during Art in the Park as she learned to
run a business as part of a homeschooling assign
ment. The festival was held Saturday and Sunday
at Hurricane Shoals Park.
Amanda Browning gave demonstrations on hexi
quilting in the heritage village during the annual
Art in the Park festival. Here she sews together
the hexie flowers to make a hexi honeycomb quilt.
Browning is the owner of Amanda’s Farm to Fork at
The Tea Room in Cleveland.
Troy Williams gave living history blacksmithing
demonstrations in the Heritage Village during Art
in the Park at Hurricane Shoals. Here he is shown
crafting hooks. Williams has been a blacksmith for
ten years.
