East Jackson’s volleyball
team claimed three straight
victories to close out the
past week.
The Lady Eagles secured
2-0 victories over Barrow
Arts and Sciences Academy,
Banks County and Franklin
County to improve their
overall record to 13-9 on the
season.
East Jackson plays Lo-
ganville and Athens Acad
emy on Thursday, followed
by games against Provi
dence Christian Academy
and Fellowship Christian on
Tuesday, Sept. 26.

Dragons set to open region play this week
After a week off to rest,
the Jefferson Dragons (4-
0) will begin region play
Friday night when they
host Clarke Central (3-
1).
The Dragons are
ranked 4th in Class 5A in
the state. Clarke Central
is ranked 10th.
Through their first four
games, the Dragons have
outscored opponents
150-45.
Among the team’s lead
ers has been multi-talent
ed Sammy Brown who’s
on the leaderboard in the
state rankings for total
points with 72 (#8); total
touchdowns with 12 (#8);
and punt average with
53.4 yds. (#1 in the state
and #3 in the nation).
Dragon Skyler Zim
merman is ranked #18 in
the state for sacks with 5.
Kicker Taylor McCall
is also on the leaderboard
list at #21 for PATs made
with 19 and #9 for kick
off yards with 1,414.

Lady Dragons to face heavy
region play in the coming weeks
The Jefferson Lady Drag
ons softball team is poised
to grind through the heart of
its region competition in the
coming weeks.
The Dragons (12-3 overall,
8-2 region) will face Heritage
on Sept. 21 in a key region
matchup, then host Wind
er-Barrow on Sept. 25 before
traveling to Flowery Branch
on Sept. 27 for another region
matchup.
JHS was to have faced
North Oconee Monday in the
team’s final non-region con
test of the season.
Last week, the Lady Drag
ons downed Clarke Central
20-8 in region play, but lost a
heartbreaker in region play to
Loganville 6-5 in nine innings
last Thursday.
Before last week’s games,
the Lady Dragons were ranked
#2 in Class 5A in the state.

The City of Jefferson does hereby announce that the millage rate will be set at a meeting to be held at the Jefferson Station Council
Meeting Room on Sept. 25, 2023 at 6PM and pursuant to the requirements of O.C.G.A. Section 48-5-32 does hereby publish the following
presentation of the current year's tax digest and levy, along with the history of the tax digest and levy for the past five years. Values
subject to change due to Public Utilities Assessment and any outstanding appeals. A copy of the proposed FY24 General Fund Budget can
be found on the City of Jefferson website at www.cityofjeffersonga.com or at Jefferson City Flail.
