• In partnership with Ameri
can Legion Post 93, the library
is a drop-off site for care items
being donated to the Charlie
Noiwood VA Hospital and
Fisher House in Augusta. The
library has a list of acceptable
items. “This is a great way to
say thank you to our seivice
members and their families. We
will continue to receive items
till October 1, “ said Library
Manager Angel Abounader.
• There will be a new ses
sion of the Seasons of Song
offered during October. Evan
Bush, Director of Youth Ser
vices at GPLS, is offering this
pilot program once again to
children in kindergarten and
first grade. Call the library
at 706-335-5946 to reserve a
spot. The classes will be held
on Tuesdays, Oct. 10, 17 and
24 at 4 p.m.
• Children’s Librarian Brit
tney Warren has several pro
grams planned for fall break,
which starts October 2. These
include a solar eclipse science
craft with Dr. Maurice Snook,
Spooky Family Stoiytime,
Creepy Crawlies featuring
spider, snakes and bugs from
the Department of Natural
Resources and a Bunny Pet
ting Zoo with Divine Healing
Ranch.

Jefferson’s Woman’s Club Members will help with an

to a fashion show presented by
Chico’s of Athens, organized
by member Debra Plott. Eight
Woman’s Club members mod
eled the fashion ensembles.
Additionally, members donat
ed many items of gently-used
clothing to Peace Place so that
women in transitional housing
could select items to wear for
job interviews.
During the business meeting,
members were informed about
the club’s focus for the current
club year, including the free lit
tle libraries and book baskets,
and aiding the Head Stall and
Extra Special People programs.

called for the formation of a
“civic improvement club” in
order to beautify Jefferson. He
stated “1 am confident if the
ladies would organize, they

Nature Center on Thurs
day, Oct. 12, at 1 p.m. This
program is free and open to
children of all ages with a
parent/caregiver.

Movies in the Park featuring
Tim Burton’s “The Night
mare Before Christmas” in
the Nicholson City Park on
Saturday, October 14. Cos
tumes are encouraged and
the movie begins at 7 p.m.

• The library's annual Boo
Fest will be held Thursday,
Oct. 19, beginning at 6 p.m.
There will be games, crafts,

Area Fire and Rescue) and
a magic show. This event

• Hidden Gems Book Club
will meet on Thursday, Sept.

NOTICES OF PUBLIC HEARINGS
The Hoschton City Council will conduct public hearings at its work ses
sion on October 12, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. at the Community Center, 65 City
Square, Hoschton, GA, 30548, on the following matters:
1. V-23-04 Variance: STS Properties, by Scott Phillips, seeks a variance to
the Hoschton zoning ordinance, Article VI, "Specific Use Provisions,"
Section 6.105, "Self-Service Storage Facility," and Section 6.60, "Fenc
es and Walls," to: increase the maximum height of a self-service stor
age facility from 12 feet to 17 feet; to increase the maximum length of
a self-service storage building from 200 feet to 250 feet; to reduce the
required setback for fences along a side and rear property line from
20 feet to 0 feet; to reduce the required setback for fences along a front
property line to 10 feet from the right of way of State Route 53 and 25
feet from the right of way of Pearl Industrial Avenue; and to reduce
the required setback from a right of way for a gate from 20 feet to
15 feet, for 2.60 acres zoned M-l (Light Industrial District) fronting
on the east side of State Route 53 and the south side of Pearl Indus
trial Avenue (Map/Parcel 113/027). Proposed use: climate-controlled
self-service storage facility.
2. Z-23-08 Rezoning: Southeastern Property Acquisitions, LLC, ap
plicant, Davis Automotive, LLC, property owner, seeks to rezone
2.09 acres fronting on the east side of State Route 53 (Map/Parcel
120/013J) approximately 225 feet south of Towne Center Parkway
from M-l (Light Industrial District) to C-2 (General Commercial/
Highway Oriented District). Proposed use: retail shopping center.
3. Z-23-09 Rezoning: Southeastern Property Acquisitions, LLC, appli
cant, Ryan Langford, property owner, seeks to rezone approximately
2.71 acres fronting on the east side of State Route 53 (Map/Parcels
H01/022 and H01/023) from C-l (Neighborhood Business District)
to C-2 (General Commercial/ Highway Oriented District). Proposed
use: retail shopping center.
4. Z-23-10 Rezoning: Southeastern Property Acquisitions, LLC, appli
cant, Ryan Langford and Michael Bagwell, property owners, seek to
rezone approximately 2.8 acres (part of H01 /024A; approximately 1.4
acre and part of H01 / 024; approximately 1.4 acre) fronting on the east
side of State Route 53 approximately 770 feet south of Towne Center
Parkway from C-2 (General Commercial/ Highway Oriented Dis
trict) to C-3 (Commercial Motor Vehicle Service and Repair District).
Proposed use: retail gas station.
5. Z-23-11 Rezoning: Southeastern Property Acquisitions, LLC, appli
cant, Michael Bagwell, property owner, seek to rezone approximately
9.33 acres (Map/Parcel 120/017C) between State Route 53 and Regent
Park and north of Merchant's Park Drive from M-l (Light Industrial
District) to C-2 (General Commercial/ Highway Oriented District).
Proposed use: retail shopping center.
6. CU 23-01 Conditional Use: Southeastern Property Acquisitions,
LLC, applicant, Michael Bagwell, property owner, seek a condition
al use for a big box retail building (i.e., individual tenant occupying
more than 60,000 square feet) in a C-2 (General Commercial/ High
way Oriented) District on property fronting on the east side of State
Route 53 across from Peachtree Road (approximately 20 acres) (Map/
Parcel 120/017C, Map/Parcel 120/024D, and H01/024B and part of
H01/024).
During its regular meeting on October 16, 2023, at 6:00 p.m., at the Com
munity Center, 65 City Square, Hoschton, GA, 30548, City Council may
act on these items.
