Frightful Accident. —The family of Mr.
D. Plumb so well known to our county
recently wore on a visit near Bcrzclia.
David, the eldest sou of Mr. Plumb was
standing at the wiudow with his baby
brother in his arms, when by some cause

ted out of the wiudow to the ground a dis
tance ol twenty feet.
Wc aro happy to learn that the chil
dren received no serious injury and will in
a few weeks bo all right agaiu.— Wash

occurred iu this place on Sunday night,
last abott two o’clock. The frame build
ings on Main street occupied by Peter
Laoder. H. E. Miller, Joliu Reilly and M.
B. Wolf, were consumed. All these gen
tlemen are heavy losers by the fires as
well as Mrs. Corbett, who owned one of
tlie buildtugs. The fire was evidently tbe
work of an incendiary, and bade fair at
oue time to lay a large portion of our town

The Lightning Rod Man. —John Ow
ens, (of New York,) a vender of patent
lightning rods, boasted on the steamship
Montgomery, from Savannah to New
