On Tuesday 25th of September Mr. L.
C. Skinner one of the Proprietors of the
Globe Hotel in Augusta Ga.
Tin’ Byronic Blacksmith. —The London
correspondent of the Manchester Guardian
mentions “the curious fact that the son
and heir of Lord Lovelace, late Lord
Ockham, and now,by Lady Byron's death,
Baron Wentworth, and heir to the very
large landed property bequeathed by the
poet’s widow, is now working at Wool
wich Arsenal, as a smith, at weekly wa
ges.” This is a very pretty story, which
loses nothing in the hands of a translator
and a correspondent of the Independance
*Betgr., who adds, with fine dramatic in
stinct, bringing in the inevitable “Melon
of Troy.”
“His pay is thirty shillings a week. I
‘have seen him at work in the shop with
•us much pluck and industry as any of his
’mates, Between ourselves, there is at the
-bottom—or rather at the top—of this ec
centric proceeding a young and Dretty
girl of the lower order, whom his Lord
ship is unwilling to abandon, even to live
in the highest and most envied sphere of
Society.”
We regret to spoil so “sweet a romance”
but the facts in the case do the mischief,
and not we. Lord Wentworth has exhib
ited a very decided taste and talent for
mechanics, and has foi some years past
been perusing his studies practically un
der the supervision of Mr. Scott Russell.

IMPURE fiLOODI
The blood is the life I and when any foreign or unhealthy
matter gets mixed with it, it is at once distributed to
every organ of the body Every nerve feels the poison,
aud all tlie vital organa quickly complain. Tbw'tdoaiaeU
will not digest the food perfectly. The liver censes to
secrete a sufficiency of bile. The action of the heart is
weakened, and so .the circulation is feeble. The lungs
become clogged with the poisonous matter ; hence, a
cough—and all from a alight impurity at the fountain
head of life—the Blood I As if you had thrown r ueiv
earth, for instance, in a pure spring, from wliioh ran a
tiny rivulet, in a few minutes the whole course of the
stream becomes disturbed aud discolored. As quickly
does impure blood fly to every part, and leave its sting
behind. All the passages become obstructed, and unless
the obstruction is removed, the lamp o r life soon dies out.
These pills net only purify the blood, but regenerate ail
the secretions of the body; they are, therefore, unrivalled
as a

HOSTETTER’S
STOMACH BITTERS.
The proprietors (mil Tiidnufacturers of HOS
TETTER'S CELEBRATED .STOMACH JiiS
TERS can nppcftl with perfect confidence tu
physicians nnd citizeus generally of the tutted
States, beeuOsc the article has attained a repu
tation heretofore unknown. A few facts upon
this point will speak more powerfully than
volumes of hare assertion or blazoning puffery.
The consumption of llostetter’s Stomach Bit
ters for the last year nmounted to over a half
million bottles, and from its manifest stoutly
increase in times past, it is evident that (luring
the coming year the consumption will reach
near one million bot tles. This inunense nmount’
could never have been sold but for the rare
medicinal properties contained in the prepara
tion, and the sanction of the most prominent
physicians in those sections of the country
where the article is best known, who not only
recommend the Bitters to their patients, but
are ready at all times to give testimonials to its
efficacy in nil cases of stomachic derangements
and the diseases resulting therefrom.
This is not a temporary popularity, obtained
by extraordinary efforts in the way of trum
peting the qualities of the Bitters, hut a solid
estimation of an invaluable medicine, which is
destined to be as enduring ns time itself.
Hostetler's Stomach Bitters have proved
a Godsend to regions where fever mid ague
and various other bilious complaints have
counted their victims by hundreds. To be
able to state confidently that the “Bitters”
are a certain cure for the Dyspepsia and like
diseases, is to the proprietors a source of un
alloyed pleasure. It removes nil morbid matter
from Hie stomach, purifies thq blood, mid
imparts renewed vitality to the nervous system,
giving it that tone and energy indispensable,
for the restoration of health. It operates upon
the stomach, liver, nnd other digestive organs,
mildly hut powerfully, nnd soon reslUres them
toacondition essential to the healthy discharge
of the functions of nature.
Elderly persons may use the Billers daily ns
per directions on the bottle, and they will find
in it nstimulnut peculiarly adapted to comfort
declining years, as it is pleasant to (tie palate,
invigorating to the bowels, excellent as a tonic,
and rejuvenating generally. IVe have the evi
dence of thousands of aged men and women
who have experienced the benefit of using this
preparation while suffering from stomach de
rangements and general debility; acting under
the advice of physicians, they have abandoned
all deleterious drugs und fairly tested l lie
merits of this article. A few words to Ibe
gentler sex. There are certain periods when
their cares nre so harassing that many of 1 hem
sink uifdcr the trial. The relation of mother
and child is so absorbingly fender, Hint the
mother, especially if she be young, is apt to
forget lier own health in her extreme anxiety .-
for her infant . Should the period of nmtcriiily,
arrive during I lie summer season, the wear of
body and mind is generally aggravated. Here,
then, is a necessity for a stimulant to recupe
rate the energies of the syslcin, nnd enable the
mother to bear up under her exhausting trials
and responsibilities. Nursing mothers gene
rally prefer the Bitters to all other invigora
tors that receive the endorsement of physi
cians, because it is agreeable to the taste ns
well as certain to give a permanent increase
of bodily strength. <
All those persons, to whom we hare pnrlieu
lnrly referred above, to wit: sufferers from
fever nnd ague, caused by malaria, diarrhoea,
dysentery, indigestion, loss of appetite, ami
fill diseases or derangements of the stomach,
superannuated invalids, persons of sedentary
occupation, and nursing mothers, will consult
their own physical welfare by giving to Hos
tetler’s Celebrated Stomach Hitlers a trial.
CAUTION.—We caution the public against
using any of the many imitations or counter
feits, but ask for Hostkttkk’h Cki.ihuatkii
Stomach Bitteks. and see that each bottle has
the words “Dr. J. Hostetler’s Stomach Itiliers”
blown on ths side of the bottle, sod stamped
on the metallic cap covering the cork, and
observe that uur autograph signature is on ths •’
label.
