A Patriotic Newsboy. —A few days since
a gentleman on the steamboat Thomas Pow
ell, on her passago up the North River, se
lected a number of illustrated and other
newspapers from the stock of a newsboy
who bad his stand on the boat. On taking
out his purse to pay for them, the boy|px
claitncd, “Say—you’re Gen. Scott, ain't
you 1 I don’t take your money—you’re
entitled to free papers!” On the gentle
man’s assurance that lie was notGcn. Scott,
but only a New York lawyer, the boy con
sented to receive the money.
