The universal estimation in which the celebra

held, i’, satisfactorily demonstrated by the
increasing demand far them in every state
•mil section of the Union, and by the volun
tary testimonials to their remarkable efficacy
which are every where o.feted. It is not
less from a deeply gratifying confidence that
they are the means of extensive and in -
estimable good among his alilicied fellow

eminently successful medicines is d»sirous
ofkeeping them constantly before the pub

will be relieved from a treater or less degree
of suffering, and be improved in general
health ; for in no 'ease of suffering from
disease can they ha taken iu vain. The
proprietor has never known or been in

failed to do good. In the most obstinate
cases of chronic dyspepsia, torpid liver,
rheumatism, asthma, nervous ami billions
head achefeostivcness, piles, general debility,
sciofulons swelling and ulcers, scurvv, salt
rheum and all other chronic affections of
the organs and membranes, they effect
cures with a rapidity an I permanency
which few persons would theoretically be
Sieve, but to which thousands have testified
from happy experience. In colds and
coughs, 1 which, if neglected, superinduce
the most fatal disease of the lungs, and
indeed the vicera in general, these medicines,
if taken but for three or four days, never
ail. Taken at night, they so promote the
insensible perspiration, and so relieve the
system of febrile action and feculent ob
structions, as to produce a most delightful
seise ol convalescence iu the morning:
and though the usual symptoms of a cold
should partially return during the dav, tire
repetition of a suitable lose at the next hour
_o! fed tune will almost invariably effect
permanent reliefwithout further aid. Their
effect upon fevers of a more acute and more
violent kind is not less sure and speedy I
taken in proportion able quantity; and
'persons retiring to bed with infiumatorv
systems of the most alarming kind, will

are suspended the lives of millions of our

We, the undersigned, practitioner- es me
dicine in Germany are well aware t’ a*. :
our course, we may forfeit the fro-iid-h:;* of
some of the faculty, but not of its benevo
lent members, who are uninfluenced by sel
fish motives. Though *re dtall refrain from
an expression of our opinion, either ot the
soundness or unsouudness of Dr. Goelieke’s
new doctrine, we are happy to say that we
deem his Sanative too valuable not to be
generally known—for what our eyes behold
and our ears hear, we must believe.
We hereby state, that when Dr. Louis
OfTon Goehcke first came before tie German
public, as the pretended discoverer o' a ; o
doctrine and anew medicine, wc b : hi,,, j.,
the highest contempt, believing, an.i openly
pronouncing him to be a have impost •*• and
the prince of quacks. But. on hearing so
much said about the Sanative, against it an!
for it, we were induced, from motives of cu
riosity merely, to make trial of its reputed
virtues upon a number of our most hopeless
patients; and we now deem it our bounden
duty (even at tiie expense of our sol! inter
est) publicly to acknowledge its efficacy in
curing not only consumption, hut other fear
ful maladies, which we have heretofore be
lieved to be incurable. Our contempt for
the discoverer of this medicine was tit once
swallowed up in our utter art.mishit.er’ at
these unexpected results; and, as rme.ods
far anr abuse of him, we do frankly confess
to rhe world, that we believe him a nhilan
tliropist, who does honor to tiie profession,
and to our country, which gave him birth.
The recent adoption of tnis medicine into
some of our European hospitals is a stud
ent guarantytliat it perforins all its promises,
it needed not our testimony for wherever it
is used '' is its own best witness.
