iments of infantry a regiment of dis
mounted cavalry and three regiments
of artillery, equipped as infantry, will
be assigned to duty in the Philippines.
The three artillery regiments will (
probably be taken from Gen Merritt’s
command. Some of the troops tn Gen.
Merrill’s department stationed at posts
along the Canadian border will be
withdrawn for service in the Philip
pines.
Ou the result of tho present Philip
pine campaign will depend the settle
ment, of the question of calling for 35,

made authoritatively today by a nigh
official. It Gen Lawton’s column suc

forces to be crushed, but il the move
ment fails, the organization of the
volunteer army will then begin and
all regulars now in this country will
be shipped to ths Philippines.
A dispatch from Havana says that
General Gomez has issued a procla

a junta of Cuban generals to advise
him regarding the disbandment of
other matters concerning the army.
Gen. Gomez adds that all Cubans
should now j iin in seeking to estab

The proclamation caused no sur

Summer Time Approaches
Have you thought where you are going
this cummer? No! Well, before it is too
late, let us call your attention to Salt Lake
City—the island city by the sea.
The late Col Cockerill once said to the
readers of the Cosmopolitan : “There are
three quaint and unique cities • n the eon.
tinent, Quebec, St. Augustine anl Salt
Lake," and to this he might have truthful
ly added—and Salt Lake is t’.ie most
quaint and unique of them all.
To the visitor, it is all that Col. Cocker
ill describes it. To the summer resorter,
it < tiers N c: . bathing in Great Salt Lake, a
mile above sea L vel; all the curative prop
erties of Hot Springs, Sulphur Springs,
etc. : a delightful temperate climate with
cool nights ; a walk or drive through the
cannons and parks ; a gli’mpse of all that
is beautiful in nature, an ! all the advan
tages of a city of thrift, enterprise and I
commercial supremacy.

5 Gentlemen: I can not recommend your Pitts' Carminative too 4
£ strongly, as 1 owe my baby's life to it. She had Cholera Infantum I
1 when five months old, and I could get no relief until I beran using Pltfi C
y Carminative. The fever left her when I had given her but two bottles y
V and she had fattened so she did not look like the same child. I advise all t
□ mothers who have sickly or delicate children to give this remedy a trial 5
