So excellent and plentiful is the rock north of Griffin that it is probable they will open np quarries for general use as well ns for ballasting. This will offer an ex- - cellent opportunity to secure stone for the erection of bouses on Lexing¬ ton Avenue. Pike County Journal: ‘ Judge Pope reports that one of his turkeys came up the other day with nine little turkeys. This is the first time we ever heard of turkeys hatching in December. The Judge says he can only attribute it to the fact that the favorable seasons oi the past year affected the turkeys as well as the SOU. But we take another viewef it. Mr. Richardson is the recent¬ ly appointed Presiding Elder of this district and will make this city his future home. In the handle of the cane is set a iittle watch, so that the dude can observe the time witbont unbuttoning his $2 ulster. The handle also contains a repository for cigarettes and matches, andjin one end is a receptacle for one dollar’s worth of nickles, which are pushed up by a spring. The head of the cane is no doubt a very good thing in its wav, bat what is needed is for some one to invent a head for the dude which contains more brains than the one now perched on his hol¬ low shoulders. ‘Whom the ■gfib* but gods wby love diet "iwben die young,” says Byron; the cold cough, which you can cure or neg¬ lected means death, with Dr. Bull’s Cough Syrup, the old reliable!
