the city limits, by an incoming
freight train of the Air Lino and
injured so seriously that he died a

A LOVE LOKN MAID.
This afternoon Alice (Hover, a
young while girl living in the west
ern portion of this city, swallowed
some morphine with intent to end
her life in that way. When found
she was lying on the ground near
tlio old mineral springs and was
unconscious of what was going on
about her. She was taken to her
home and medical aid furnished
her. To-night she is reported to
be in a fair way of recovering. In
one of her stockings was found a
pistol, with which, she said, she
intended killing herself if tlio poi
son did not do the work. Friends
of tlio family say that the most
probable causo of her wishing to
die is that a young man who for
some time has been paying her
marked attention, a few days ago
jilted her, and that Ids going back
on her made her very unhappy.

there was a large iudcpemlent

support Governor Cleveland. In
explanation ot the withdrawal of
Elector Long from thu electoral
ticket, Mr. Jones said that it was
occasioned by an independent
speech of Mr. Long regarding the

substituted,” he said, “by a demo

the white republican element es

In the course of conversation,
