THE AMEKICUS DAILY TIMES-RECORDKR: SUNDAY, APRIL 19, 1891.
Wednesday Ni|ht.
Gormans' minstrels will be hero next
Wednesday night Of the company's
performance in that city, the Iloston
Herald says:
“The departure the Gormans have
made in their minstrel entertainment
was evidently pleasing to the big audi
cnee that was present at the opening of
the Globe Theatre Monday evening.
There is no circle and no first part as is
common with the most minstrel shows,
but the performance begins with the
“Lorillard Reception," which serves to
introduce the principal members of the
combination in their' specialties. The
singing, the dancing, and the sketch
work of the company are excellent. In
deed, there was not a number on the
program that was not encored. “The
Dancer’s Dream," and “Twilight in
Dixie” are the two numbers which seem
ed to please the audience most, the lat
ter being especially praiseworthy and
full of original aud taking hits. The
Messrs. James, John and George Gor
man were heartily received, seen often
and always gave satisfaction. Arthur
Rigby made a hit in his monologue en
tertainment. Messrs. John Ilyams,
Alexander Cameron and J. M. Norcross
contributed most acceptably to the vocal
part of the program, and layman, the
expressionist, and Reto, contortionist,
added much to the general enjoyment.
The stay of the Gormans is limited to
the present week, with matinees on
Wednesday and Saturday.” i
