Ready—And Have Arranged the Line of
March and the Program—Help Them
All Ton Can.
The ladies of the Memorial Associa
tion hare been indefatigably at work,
and have succeeded In making out a full
and splendid program.
It Is their desire to make this year’s
exercises and gathering better and larger
than ever, and It looks as If their wish
will be fulfilled.
They deserve and receive the greatest
praise from all, and everybody who can
should take delight In assisting them in
any way.
All who will participate in the ex
ercises, are requested to meet at the
Library, Monday afternoon, April 27tb,
promptly at 8:30 o'clock.
The procession will form In front of
the library, and will march down Jack-
son street to Church, and up Church
street to Oak Grove cemetery in the
following order:

An Election Ordered.
CoL Wiley, of the second Georgia reg
iment has ordered an election for three
lieutenants of the Americus Light In
fantry to take place Wednesday.
The nomination of these, which
amounts to an election, has already tak
en place as follows: 1st LleuL, M. S.
Harper; 2nd Lieut, W. F. Clark: Jnnlor
2nd, W. L. Mardre.

Mrs. John T. Taylor ha* returned from
visit to Atlanta.
Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Slappey are spend
ing to-day In Ellavllle.
Prof. J. D. Duncan, of Oak Grove,
was in the city yesterday.
Mr. Mike Nevil has returned from a
visit to relatives in Montreal.
Miss Lilia Reese, of Buena Vista, ar
rived yesterday on a visit to friends.
Miss Forla Pope Is stopping for a few
days with miss Hina Williams, on Church
street
Hr. Basil Cobb, one of Athens’ most
popular young men, Is visiting relatives
in the city.'
Mr. and Mrs. T. Wheatley returned
yesterday from an extended tour through
New York and Pennsylvania.
Scattering Bright Dollars.
To-morrow Is payday at the S A. A
M. railroad, and era the eun goes down
tens of thousands of glittering silver
dollars and crisp bank notes will go to
make glad the hearts of the road's faith
ful employees.
All day yostorday Paymaster Shipps
was busily engaged getting the ac
counts and money in order, and early to
morrow will leave in a special train to
pay off all employees engaged on the
eastern division, between Americus and
Lyons.
The train will return to Americus
Wednesday, on which day the men em
ployed in the city and along the western
division as far as the Chattahoochee
river will be paid. The road pay roll
amounts to more than 831,000 monthly,
nearly all of which eventually goos to
fill the tills of Americus’ merchants.
Dr. F. A. Thomas.
Dr. F. A. Thomas, who spent a part of
last year in New York city, taking a
post-graduate course, and attending the
various hospitals there, has located at
Americus, Ga. Doctor Thomas practic
ed medicine in this county for about
ten years, and has always stood well,
both as a physician and a citizen.
Americus has gained by his going there
a competent physician and deserving

for sale a portion of the newspaper and
job outfit mode surplus by the recent
consolidation of the Times and Recor
der, consisting of one cylinder newspa

Hero paper cutter, one perforator, six

five hundred pounds of news type, etc.

virtually now, having been in use only a
