THE AMERICAS DAILY TIMES-RECORDER: FRIDAY, MAY 8, 1891.
Strangely I'org.tfnl.
A poor memory for names and faces is
• serious disadvantage to a clergyman.
Dr. John Hall was leaving liis house in
Fifth avenue not long ago, when he saw
S young man looking ut the numbers on
the doors. From something in his dress
and manner Dr. Hall concluded that he
must be u recent immigrant from the
Emerald isle, and therefore a fellow
countryman. .
The stranger was evidently at a loss,
and Dr. Hall asked him if he eonld lie of
any assistance.
‘•I am looking for Dr. John Hull."
said the young man.
•‘I am he.” modestly replied the cler
gyman.
“Are yon Dr. Hall?"
“I am.”
“Did you come from Ireland?"
"I had the good fortune to be liorn
there.”
The stranger looked at him for a uue
inent. “Don't yon know me. Dr. Had?"
said he.
“I regret to say that 1 cannot place
yon at this moment, thongh I may have
seen you before."
“Well. I (hink yon have. Why, yon
baptized me twenty-five years ago in the
old country, and yet you have forgotten
me entirely!"
“It was not a time for levity," said
Dr. Hall afterward, in relating the inci
dent: “otherwise I might hare reminded
the young man how strange it was that
he sbonld have forgotten the faco of one
who bad sustained snch an important
relation to him in his infancy."—Now

Swill Fijian Railing Craft.
We saw to windward a native boat
bearing down upon us tuider foil stress
of sail. A Fijian boat is made of a hoi
lowed cocoanat log, sharpened at both
ends. About ten feet on one side of it
is placed a long and slender log of lighter
wood, both parts of the craft tieing at
once connected by and supporting
railed platform of bamboo. Such
boat fluuta on the water like a cork, and
offers no thore resistance than a racing
shell. A roast set in the center of the
platform snpports a triangular sail of
matting, with the base of the figure np-
most. A very top heavy effect is thns
produced, but nothing can overturn the
light vessel owing to the breadth of Us
base, and it flies through the water like
the wind.
The catamaran that pursued ns easily
kept np with the launch, although we
drove it at full speed to keep ahead, and
with the huge, misshapen mat sail flap
ping and rolling liko a great list's wing
as the boat thrashed through the billows,
and sent showers of spray over the glis
tening bodies of the dozen natives who
stood qr sqaatted upon the deck, the pict
ure was something fascinatingly strange
and barbaric and never to be forgotten.
When the hoat was near us our laqnch
rati tinder a jutting point, where thickly
clustered palms cut off the wind, and the
ca^aiparan becoming becalmed get out
oars and turned in for the shore.—Cor.

Hawkers end Peddlers.
What ear-splitting cries we hear daily
in the streets of every large city 1 Hut
these Itinerant dealers who hawk their
wares about are, when under proper re
striction, a useful portion of the commu
nity, and not such nuisances as the ca
tarrh hawkers. This Is a stubborn dis
ease to conquer, but Dr. Sage’s Catarrh
Remedy does it. It is mild, soothing and
antiseptic, unlike snuffs that irritate, or
solutions that burn. It corrects offensive
breath, and restores taste, smell and
bearing. Nasal catarrh often ends in
consumption. Apply tbe only cure in
time. Price 50 cents, by all druggists.

Gentlemen—I have suffered for years
with e kind of tetter, or breaking out all
over my body, and at times these small
pimples would terminate in boils. While
traveling in tho south last year r had
occasion to try a bottle of P. P. P.,
which was recommended to me by a
friend, and to my surprise it helped me
so much that I got six bottles, and
after taking the full contents, I felt
better than I bad since tbe beginning of
my .trouble, and while I have no symp
toms of the disease returning, I am still
using the wondorful blood medicine at
intervals, and am fully satisfied that I
will be entirely cored of a disease that
for fifteen yean has troubled me. I
cannot express my gratitude to you for
so wonderful a benefactor as your P. P.
P. (Prickly Asb, Poke Knot and Potas
