The first six plays are what 1
call a play cycle. These plays, we
might say, are related to each oth

No Shifting of Gears
With the new Hupmobile, you
can climh steep hills,' or follow'
a team of walking horses
through congested streets,
without once changing gears.
The Hupmobile ha salways
been noted for its power-flexi
bility,—the new production is
even more remarkable in this
respect.
It leaps forward like a deer
when you "step on it" and
it settles down to a snail’s
pace with sweetness and
smoothness that delight.
Every practical advantage of
performance is engineered into
the new Hupmobile, and
there is also built into it great
er economy per mile, and
higher investment value, we be
lieve than any car built to
day.
To those who must drive
thair cars over the roughest
roads day after day, the new
Hupmobile makes special ap
peal. The fact that it is one of

the defense cannot analyse the in

of the backs in other words, the
defense should not be informed

These six plays are fundamen

basic system in fact, they may be
the main ground gainers of the
season. They have been used suc

The six plays in the cycle may
all start as drawn, the men lining
up in their positions on the right
after each play, and then, if de

by signal, using a slow shift. Or
they may" “hep” into this forma
tion by a quick shift'from some
preliminary formation from which
the ultimate direction of the shift
cannot he previously determined.
Proper defenses are set up
against each play in the diagrams
to follow. Tomorrow we will dis

LAKE LOST IN

WASHINGTON, Oct. 10.—The

the toughest, strongest, staunch

ice.
The fact i 9, that no car, what
ever its price may be, is built
of finer, more durable materials
than the Hupmobile. Its
workmanship and its measure
ments are equally fine.
Vou will find improvements
and refinements in both body
and chassis.—but it is charac
teristic of the Hupmobile that
most intensive attention has
been given to chassis better
ments.
The motor is still smoother,
still more powerful. Because
of clutch and transmission im
provements, gears shift with
still greater ease.
The whole car reveals that
Hupmobile engineering and
production have achieved ar-~
still greater Hupmobile. A I 5
minutes demonstration will
convince you of that.

Louisiana Lady Says She Has “Nev

Morgan City, La.—‘‘lt would be hard
for me to tell how much benefit 1 have
derived from the use of Cardui,” said
Mrs. I. G. Bowman, of 1319 Front Street,
this city.
“I was so run-down in health I cculd

of my trouble was from being so weak
and easy to get tired and out of heart.
“Ihis nervous condition was worse
than pain.
“Some one told me of Cardui, and I
decided to use it.
“After using a few bottles, I regained ;
my strength. 1 wasn’t so nervous, and 1
began to cat and sleep, and grew '
stronger and was soon well.

Jackie Coogan
Coming Wed .
IACK.IE COOGAN
Little Jackie Coogan is with us
again; this time in a story as dif
ferent from “Oliver Twist” as that
masterpiece was different from
‘Feck’s Bad Boy.’ It bears the
title of ‘Daddy and will be shown
at the Rylander Theater on
Thursday and Friday. The lovable
little star has a vehicle that ap
peals with equal force to every
member of the family from staid,
sdate grandpa to impossible Bill or
Jack or Mary. Humor, pathos
blithe merriment and 'prankish
boviiood tricks follow one anoth
er across the silver sheet, evoking
tears, laughther, thrills and chuck
les at the will of this great litttle
actor.
“Daddy” is richer In acting op
portunities than any previous
Jackie Coogan picture. It was
written for their boy by Mr. and
Mrs.. Coogan, batter than
any ’ others, know their sons pre- j
cocious genius and its almost lim
itless versatality. Never before
has this little star possessed such
a chance to reval his powers of
pathetic appeal and tragic fervor.
Mr. and Mrs. Hines Hammond
have moved from their former apart
ment in the home of Miss Carrie
Speer and are now at home in the
S. L. Hammond home on South Lee
street.
You Can Start Laughing Now

P Jackie will keep the Rylander in an up
roar. There’s more fun in this picture
than any you’ve seen him in—but that's
throb. With his fiddle and his pig—
howl of spaghetti, the shower bath
ments when you will be proud of the
lump that comes up your throat.
