quarter of the year 1923:
Wood, $25; provisions, 69.10;
medicine, $5; physicians’ fees, sl4;
Christmas baskets, $92.20; balance
in bank December 27, $132.36.
C. J. Clark, proprietor of the
Clark Coal Co., offered the Asso
ciated Charities a ton of coal for
< very 50 torp sold to the pul lie,
and has already donated, two and a
half tons to this work. The Asso
ciated Charities wishes to especially
direct t.ranks to him for this dnoa
tion, which suffer
ing among those unabre to purchase
coal during the sc /ere cold weather
just experienced, said Mrs. C. J.
Sherlock, chairman of the organiza
tion, through whom the funds are
dispensed.
CORDELE CIVIC FEED
PROVES REAL SUCCESS
CORDELE, Jan. 25.—The Board
of Trade Lions and Kiwanis joint
banquet was a success.
Frank Bartholemew presided and
it was snappy all through.
Mrs. Redding had prepared a de
lightful meal of oysters and turkey
and the doors were opened promtly
at 8:30.
After “America" and prayer by
Rev. Mr. Chesley, supper was ser
ved and the secretary’s repqrt was
read. It was full and comprehend
ed not only the accomplishment of
the Board of Trade during the six
months but a resume of the coun
ty and city government and a gen
eral survey of the Cordele trade
territory.
LAUNDRY OWNERS MEET
SAVANNAH, Jan. 25.—Owners
from Georgia, South Carolina,
North Carolina and Florida in ses
sion here discussed conditions and
methods of operation of laundries
in the meeting of the four states or
ganization-. Fair delegations from

NEGRO BURGLAR HELD
MACON, Jan. 25. Hillard
Jackson, 11-year-old negro, wa
lodged in the Bibb county jail yes
terday on a Municipal court war
rant charging him with robbing
Bayne’s Pharmacy last Monday
night. He was arrested in Forsyth.
