Eleven years ago. with 12,000 bars and cases doing business in the city the police gath ered in 27,000 disturbers ‘of the jpeace; last year, with 17,000 li quor dispensaries to reckon with, but no absinthe, they took in' only 16,000. * Frenchmen have long claimed to be immune to the in toxicating effect of their national wines, and they have net yet taken kindly to whiskey and cocktails. These suf ferers have- only themselves to blame. For March 1 is the last day to buy 1924 automobile license tags. Af ter that date the autoist who doesn’t own and display one of this year’s model tags on the rear end of his bus will lay himself liable to ar rest. fine and penalty. The tags have been on sale ever since Jan uary 1. ample time for every auto owner in Fulton county to go to the capitol, get his tag without delay and march away with only a few minutes time spent on -the entire job. But year after year Atlantians would seem to prefer going through the disagreedable experience of standing in line for hours the last day of or two of the sale waiting with tired feet and aching limbs, while applicants ahead of them are waited upon. It isn’t the fault of the office. There are plenty of clerks and the efficiency of- the force is unques tioned. But it is simply a fact that no organization can wait on people who should have spread their visits jver a two month*period in two ox tree days. DR. DODD TO BE NEXT CONVOCATION ORATOR CHICAGO.
