Recent declines in the,, price "f cot ton should serve as a warning those farmers who plan increasing their acreage this year that any considerable increase in the pro duction of cotton will be disastrous, in the opinion of leading Georgia agriculturists. “The reports from vamis por tions of the South indicate that many farmers arc planning larger cotton acreages this year in the hope of profiting buy the higher ■price of the staple,” said a leading farmer at the state capitol today. “They overlook the fact that larger yield inevitably will mean a smaller price.” Attention is called to the fact by officials of the Georgia Depart ment) of Agriculture that if farmers generally should enlarge their acre age of cotton, the boll weevil would 'have greater opportunity for- do ing damage, for he would fiav.i more cotton to work upon and the farmer, busy with the larger acre age, would have less time to de vote to fighting the weevil.
