SATURDAY AFTERNOON, MARCH 8. 1924 WIGGINS FLAYS z COMMITTEE RULES ... * - .> (Continued From Page 1) these outside property owners join ing in the election of school sup erintendent in Americus? “Doubless that suggestion would appear quite ‘crude’ to Arthur. “No, the fair minded and, justice loving and law observing people of Americus do not wish the privilege of helping to select or elect the Americus school superintendent. “Nor do they appreciate the priv ilege of the primary extended to them by the very accomodating exe cutive committee. “Down in their just souls they resent your action and quite likely many of them will throw back your unsolicited privilege and repudiate your ‘crude’ solicitude. “Again, Arthur contends that since the boundaries of the Amer icus school district do not coincide with the boundaries of the 27th voting district, therefore there is no way of separating the county vote herein from the city vote here in. “As if two sets of ballots could not be prepared, one free of the County School Superintendent candidates names, the other carry ing their name. As Mr. Small does not know the number of voters in Americus which could be de ducted from the total vote cast in the 27th, thereby arriving at the exact country vote in the 27th. “Great God of Israel could any thing more ‘crude’ be conceived than the illogical arguments pre sented by Arthur to be accepted and absorbed by the intelligent voters of good old Sumter county, both in the city and in the rural divisions. “As ■!> understand the matter, the executive committee was appoint ed to promulgate fair and just rules for the guidance of the voters and not to pass upon the ‘crudity’ of the sacred laws of the great common wealth of Georgia. “Now, personally, if i were a County School Superintendent can didate in this primary and this rule of the committee should stand un revoked I would withdraw from the. contest, as a solemn protest against the injustice of the committee’s ac tion, “In my topinion Who ever may b< the fiominee in this contest his titie to the office will‘be deeply cloud ed. That which is polluted at tl e source will be polluted to the end. And personally, I would have the office clean or hot at all. These being by sentiments, should the rule stanjl unrevoked, I shall conscien tiously refrain from expressing my choice" for County School Superin tendent in the primary One vote forbidden by law, in my humble op inion,-. will vitiate the final Result. “Let law, justice, and fairness prevail and all will be well with grand old Sumter now and ever more.” Muncie (Ind.) bootlegger has been arrested three times in three weeks, but it doesn’t seem to be often enough.
