For many years motorists who endeavored to reach St,. Simons Is land were handicapped by the almost impassable stretch in Wayne county The county had exhausted its funds for this class of .work and for many years the stretch of road prevented many tourists from visiting Bruns wick and St. Simons Island. Last year the commissioners of Glynn county and other officials of that section formed a plan to bhild a causeway connecting St. Simons Island with the mainland. This casewav is almost finished When it is finished automobiles can drive over to the island in a few minutes. The trip is now made by boats land it requires mdYe Fihnn an hour each wav to make the frin. Plans are under way in Bruns wick for big developments on St. Simons Island as soon as the cause way is completed. With the road in Wayne county finished it Will be possible for Atlanta motorists to spend the Week end on . S’t Simons Island and return in .time for work the following Monday. Jji front of one of Atlanta's bffie./ buildings sits a blind boy plaintive, ly playing familiar tunes on a 'guitar. .The crowd was Unusually large, made up mostly of people from the country and poorer sec tions of the city,. He played My Old Kentucky Home, Carry Me back to Old Virginia and Horne Sweet Home All were moved by the boy’s music and there were tears in the eyes of many of his listeners. As the last strains of Home,Sweet Home, died, a woman stepped from the crowd. Although the day was cold she wore no hat. Her unKempt hair wash odded her cheeks had been rouged; Her black eyes had long since lost their luster. The short skirt, fawn colored silk hose carelessly mended with black thread and badly run down French heel shoes told of a pitiful effort to meet the prevailing style. She was eviden tly one of life’s discords. With a pitiful boldness she walked up and and in a voice showing the hunger of a starved heart said, please play Call Me Back Pal Os Mine.
