Eighteen delegates to the nation al republican convention in Cleve land were chosen and instructed to vote for nomination of President Calvin Coolidge. Mr. Phillips was chosen national committeeman from Georgia and Mrs. Julia R. Tilson was named national committeewoman. In addi tion to the 18 delegates, 18 alter nates to the national convention were also chosen. The delegates were named, four from the state at-large and one from each con gressional district, with the excep tion of the seventh and ninth dis trict. They received two delegates each under the rule that an addi tional delegate is given each dis trict casting 10,000 or more votes for the republican presidential non inee in the last election. A noticeable feature of the gath ering was that out of 412 accredit ed delegates 396 attended the con vention, with the Third district es pecially well represented.
