Your children’s food The foods your children eat today, determine their strength and health in later years. Remember this; they must have well balanced meals. Their food should contain the right amout of mineral salts. These salts act as bone building material. They fur nish the different fluids and juices that help keep the tissues young—the body strong and active. Bakings that are made of good plain white flour and baking powder contain a large amount of mineral salts. Allow your children to eat hardy of these bakings together with fruits and dairy products. This forms an ideal food balance. When making quick rising breads and pastries such as: biscuits, muffins, cakes, waffles, etc., don’t fail to use Calumet—the economy Baking Powder. It contains more than the ordinary leavening strength—it’s the purest and surest leavener made. That’s why it helps make your flour foods light and easily digested. LOVING CIfIFIES ERRONEOUS REPORT Lucas Thiers, a member of the firm of the Loving Oil Co., late Monday asked The Times-Recorder to state that neither he, nor Mr. Loving, senior member of the Lov ing Oil company were in any man ner connected with the raid made upon speeding motorists near their retail gas filling "Station in Ameri cus Sunday. Explaining his posi tion upon the matter, Mr. Thiers declared he had been informed the < report was prevalent in Americus that Mr. Loving was connected with the raid in some manner, whereas Chief of Police Bragg has previous ly assumed full responsibility for the arrests made. Mr. Thiers’ statement in full as handed The Times-Recorder and signed ‘ Loving Oil Company," is as follows: “Some misinformed or malicious person has started a rumor in Americus to the effect that we were responsible for the presence of Policeman Arrington at the corn er of Lee and Church streets last Saturday afternoon at which time cases were made against a number of motorists for violation of the Traffic Ordinances. “This statement is without any qualification false. “Chief of Police Bragg at the instance of Mr. Loving and others who also knew that the statement was false assumed full responsibili ty, for Mr. Arrington’s presence and the subsquent cases in the Re corders Court this morning, when he stated that he had instructed Mr. Arrington to make these cases without instructions from anyone an dwithout anw complaint being made to him by anyone connected with Loving Oil Co. “We not only had nothing to de with the cases being , made but are not in sympathy with the matter as we don’t believe that one out of a hundred Americus citizens knew that it was a violation of the Traf fic Ordinances to drive past the corners at a speed greater than seven and one half miles per hour. “We believe in law and order, but we are not the guardians of. the law and have our hands full attend ing to our own business which course we recommend to some of us who have nothing more to do than spread false statements.” The Touring Car ”2 95 V & Detroit 1 Demountable Rima M z 1 and Starter SBS extra Helps millions enjoy their vacations Ford cars will carry millions on healthful, pleasant vacations this summer—vacations that are inexpensive because of the low cost of maintenance of this reliable car. « Everyone wants a car for the outdoor months. CHURCHES LOSING ' GROUND 11 ffIEPICO Influence of Church in Rural Sections Declared Only Half That of Generation Ago NEW YORK June 17. —Results | of exhaustive researches showing that Protestantism is rapidly los’ng its grip in-rural America, were made public today by the Institute pf Social, and Religious Research, of this city, in its report of a re cently completed study of thou sands of rural Protestant churches. The study shows by attendance data, according to the institute, that the influence of the church in the counrty, its supposed strong hold and inexhaustible recruiting ground', is now only half as great as it was a generation ago. Yet evidence of the church’s de cline is not the only feature of the report that will prove disturbing, especially to denominational execu tives. The purpose of Institute of Social and Religious Research is to apply scientific methods to the study of social and religious prob lems. The governing body is com posed of John R. Mott, chairman; Ernest T. Burton, secretary; Ray mond B. Fosdick, treasurer; James L. Barton, W. H, P. Faunce, and Kenyon L. Butterfield. Galen M. FiSher is executive secretary. DR. However, on the chance that an orphaa asylum attendant 20 years ago ciH-elessly 'substituted one baby for another, the couple hope to prove that they are not brbther and sister. their story, as unfolded in the preliminary hearing in their, case, starts when Mrs. Miranda Hascom Rollins, said to be tiv.-ir mother, placed her two babies in the orphan asylum at Franklin. It was not long before a baljy girl was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Darc oi Newton. Soon af ter that Charles Langley of Cana da adopted a babv boy. The state says the two babies were the Rollins chillren. The asylum records con firm that. , But Louis and Elizabeth promise that they can prove there was a mis take made, that the little Rollins girl and Althea Hazel Frawley, an i other orphan waif, were mixed up I in their cribs. On the witness stand, during the preiminary hearing, Mrs. Rollins, deaf and dumb scribled answers to the court’s questions: , , “My daughter” and then she pointed toward Elizabeth; “M*y son,” and then toward Louis. Louis and Elizabeth seemed lit tle concerned, for they contend that the mother could -not identify Elizabeth as her own, one way or the other, as it is admitted the two met only recently. , In the meantime while the state has locked up the romance of the two orphans there has been no cool ing of the love between them. Freedom on bail was offered the bride but she refused it. “If you cannot let Louis go with me I will stay here too” she says. And while the state says it will break up their romance in the trial, the sevaratel couples swear that they will be faithful to each other for ever.
