Instead of relieving Marffy tht servant allowed him to die and then possessed himself of the money. AGED SWAIN SUED BY HIS YOUTHFUL FLAME WHITE PLAINS, N. Y. June 18. —Jefferson Livingston, 60-year old millionaire, and owner of a large Kentucky breeding stable for rac ing horses, has been sued by Miss Muriel. Buell, his failure to live up to an alleged agreement to pay her $1,750 a month for the rest of her life. Miss Buell charged that early last year Livingston entered, into the agreement for monthly payments in consideration for her promise to withhold a threatened damage suit for alleged breach of promise to marry. The wealthy turfman paid the sums for eight months up to last December, she said, and sud denly ceased. , In his answer, Livingston said he had broken with Miss Buell because of her extravagance, saying he had made gifts to her totaling SB,OOO one month. The institute is to continue until June 28th. At the session of last year, held on the Mercer campus, over 200 women attended an unanimously voted that a second training school be held during this summer. Wide ly known educators are to lecture and offer courses under the auspices of the State Federation. Governor Clifford Walker, Dr N. H. LEADERSHIP TRAINING SCHOOL BEGINS SESSION SEWANEE, Tenn., Juse 18.— Sewatiee is possibly the first col lege in, the country to adopt an ath letic law .which places all athletics and their administration directly under the control of the univers'ty authorities. By action of the board of trus tees in annual session this has be come a fact, and it is believed that the new system will result in much good to the general athletic inter ests and that other colleges will fol liw the trail blazed by the Universi ty of the South. The ordinance suggested by Vice Chancellor, the professor of physi cal education, the dean of the col lege and three other professors to be appointed annually; that the board thus formed shall have pow er to elect annually not more than six additional members. The athletic board is required to report annually to the board of trustees on the condition of ath letics, prepare a financial state ment and offer a budget for tne next year, under the rules. JUNE 18, 1924 Goldwyn picture,' which is cgrmhg to the Ryiattder theater, next wfc|.s, i sone of those remarkably capable casts which have come to be asso vciated with Goldwyn pictures. The film was adapted from Austin Strong’s successful comedy-drama by King Vidor, who also directed'it. Besides a strong cast, the play has a most interesting story. In a Washington Square home live the “Three Wise Fools” —Judge Trumbell the financier Findley and Dr. Gaunt, bachelors all and known in college days as Athos, Porthos and Aramis. They loved and lost the same girl, Rena. Gor don nephew of Findley is sent for by his uncle who has a job waiting for hi mand the boy makes him home with the three old men. Judge Trcmbell has just sentenc ed the notorious Benny the Duck to fifteen years for burglary. Benny vows vengeance on Judge Trumbull when he gets out. While in prison Benny recognizes among his fellow jailmates, on Crawshay, obviously a gentleman. A jail-break is plan ned and Benny seems particularly concerned about saving this Craws hay. The plan is sJLiccessfully car ried out and Benny and Crawshay escape in an armored car. Back in Washington square, the three old men receive word that their lost love, Rena, is dead and has implored her old suitors to take I charge of her child. They agree to do this as the butler announces that a young lady is w-iiring to see them. It is Sydney, the “child” of Rena. Romance has come! In a re markably short time sne has capi vated the bachelors —to say nothing pf young Gordon. Thereafter, she makes nightly visits to them with food and money. Then comes the day when Benny decides to make his attempt to “get Judge Trumbull,” not aware of thu fact, that Sydney lives at his home. Benny gets to the door unobserved, fells the Sutler who answers the bell and enters the hallway. There he encounters Sydney. He is deter mined in his purpose so she blows the police whistle and ”lhe detec tives are responding. Benny’s cap ture means the arbest of 'her father. Sydney then hen> s Bdnriy to escape. The police suspect her and in try ing to explain she gives herself away. She leaves the house and goes to Mott street to .join her father. She is trailed by detectives who take the | ithree to jail.,. Meanwhile Gordon has been making every effort to find her and arrives in time to bring about her release. When Benny sees that the game is up he con fesses that he has forged the name of Crawshay to a check and thai Crawshay is innocent.
