SATURDAY AFTERNOON, NOVEMBER 8. 1924 \ When the Cub} Isn’t Covering ; j Assignments —By W. K. S.— THEM PROBLEMS CF THE HOUEWIFE While coming to work this morn ing we stopped to near two neigh bors engage in a little conversa tion over the yard fence. This is about how it went. Lady No, I.—“ Roaches? why I should say we are annoyed with the bothersome creatures. The people who used to live here must have been filthy. Actually we find them in the bedrooms. Lady No. 2.—“ Well Mary why don’t you use roach poison and gat rid of the varmints?” No. I.—Now you know Sara I can’t use any kinds of poisons with a house full of kids around. The little devils will eat anything they get their hands on. Only this morn ing I found the youngest one chew ing on an old cigar stump.” No. 2.—“ You don’t mean to say your husband throws cigar buts on the floor? Why lands sake just this morning I was reading w' ere a man threw a cigar but on the floor- and caused a fire that burned up a whole block.” No. I.—“ Well if there were as many roaches in his house as there are in mine I don’t know as that wasn’t a good idea to burn it. You know every month that old skinflint of a landlord comes to me to pay’ rent, and the next time he comes I am going to tell him to cellect it from the roaches. They are the ones that have possession of the house, not us. I No. 2.—“ See you after while, Mary. I must get little Jimmy off to ’school. * * • NEGRO STEALS GOLD WATCH.
