DYNAMITE CAP GOES OFF IN NEGRO BOY’S HAND Sunday afternoon a dynamite ca pexploded in the hand of R. W. West, an eight-year-old negro boy living on the Maynard farm, three miles from the city, blowing off the tops of his fingers and burning and cutting his face. Accord ng to laborers on the Maynard place they had been blasting stumps for the past week, and one of the dynamite caps was left on the back porch of one of the tenant’s houses. R. W. Picked up the cap and lighted the fuse. After the fuse had burned half way he removed it but in some way the fire had reached the cap. MIN KILLED INFMIMBI Youth Shot by Brother-in-Law in Argument Oyer Blood Transfusion ATLANTA, Nov, 17.—John Quinn, youthful vegetable broker of Atlanta, is dead and Turner Gibbey, lis brother-in-law is being trailed by bloodhounds as the result of a family row late Sunday which cul minated in the shooting to death of Quinn by Gibbey, accoccing to wit nesses. The men were not only brother in-laws, but were cousins. Quinn a short time ago married a 17 year old sister of Gibbey and the dis agreement between th. etwo men was said to have begun over the. ex presse ddetermination of Quinn to submit to a blood transfusion in an effort to save the life of an aunt who is critically ill. The young wife objected to her husband’s taking what she considered such a risk and her family is said to have sustained her. Quinn informed them that his mind was made up and he would undergo the transfusion operation. After Quinn had informed his wife of the decision. Gibbey began remonstrating with him end the dis cusson and argument became heat ed, endng in the fatal shooting A young child was a witness and states Gibbey fired the shot wr.ich killed Quinn. WOMEN AND CHILDREN TRAPPED IN BLAZE (By the Associated Press.) CHICAGO, Nov. 17—Women and children trapped on the upper floors of the Monroe apartment house here, were carried down ladders by firemen to escape the flames that consuming the building. Mrs. Stweart will be buried at White, in Helen county, her girl hood home. Funeral services was held this afternoon. Rev. Mr. Stewart, who is a Metho dist minister, stated yesterday when he joined the possee searching for his wife’s slayer sthat if nothing had been accomplished by Monday, he would return for tl-e funearl cf his wife but would rejoin the posse Tuesday and continue to hunt until the men were caught. He believes he recognized several of the men who were in the autom-.biles und who, when he refused co join them in a proposed raid on moonshine stills, attempted to carry him away. He is of the belief that the men were bootleggers and liquor runners against whom he had wrged a cam paign both from the pulpit ana in. person.
