TUESDAY. NOVEMBER 25. 19 4 ANNUAL BATTLE BE HR K NT! UN Budget Bureau And Department Heads In Conflict At Capital (By The Associated Press) WASHINGTON, Nov. 25.—De spite last minute additions to the nations budget to meet the wishes of cabinet officials the national budget for the next fiscal year as completed today at a conference be tween President Coolid<m and budg et Director Lord limits the ordi nary expenditures of the govern ment to figures well under one bil lion eight hundred million doiiei.s, a total fixed by President Coolidge in his talk last June to ..over nivntl fiscal officers. WASHINGTON, Nov. 25.—Just' now the annual battle cf wit-, be-1 • tween Gen. Lord, dirert.-rs of the ■ budget bureau, and the various ; heads of the governm- i.t depart- 1 rnents is being waged. , Last June Preside.- t Coolidge told the department heads that' they -would get $1.800.000,0<>0 to i run the government of the United States of America. For good mris ure Gen. Lord pruned off ?1C(!,-- 000,000 from this amount, and the moan that came from ’.ho depart-« merit heads could be hoard ns far away as St. Louis, Mo. Ever since the United s'a took on the dignity o" a nation '.l ;> heads of the governm ; t d bai l ments have asked for twhe as much as they needed. Th”-' f.gnr d that! congress would cut the estimates irj half and they would got ju t about what they thought thev s’ould nave. This year they followed the old custom in asking for +wice the amount actually required, But when Gen. Lord and his staff got through with the estimates and re turned them there ennv.'d another agonizing moan. Gen Lord says the government will he run on §1,700,000,000 next year, or it won’tt be run at all. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stoke" and Mrs. Horace Clements, went to Co lumbus last Tuesday.
