WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON. JULY 8.102 5 - . ... -.s’. ... ... MRS. SUTTON ENTERTAINS FORTY-TWO CLUB TUESDAY. I Mrs. Lewis Sutton was hostess at e beautiful party Tuesday after noon, at her home on Jackson, when she entertained the members of her forty-two club delightfully. In the living room where the tables were arranged and in the wide reception hall quantities of; lovely vari-colored garden flowers I were used in artistic profusion, I zinnias, wall Howers and marigolds! filling wall vases and baskets. After several interesting games 1 of forty-two, delicious ice cream and cake were served. The hostess was assisted in en tertaining by Mrs. John Hartzog. The guest list included Mrs. Oscar English, Miss Mary English, Mrs. Charlie Barfield, Mrs. B. E. Turner, Frs. John Quarterman, Mrs. John Hartzog, Mrs. Herman House, Mrs. Harry Wilson, Mrs. J E. Wilson, Mrs. W. R. JaJckson, Mrs. Roy Parker, Mrs. Fred Mar kctte. MARY TRESSIE SAPP HOSTESS AT LOVELY BIRTHDAY PARTY. A most enjoyable affair among the young social contingent was the party given by Mary Tressie Sapp Monday afternoon, at her home on Lamar street, the occasion marking her Uth birthday anniversary. Quantities of bright colored gar den flowers adorned the rooms where the guest were entertained. Many interesting games and con tests were enjoyed until late in the afternoon when the guests were in vited into the dining room whore delicious ice cream and cake were served. An effective pink and white color scheme was carried out in the table decorations. In the cen ter was a large white birthday can holding tiny pink burning taper, encircled by crystal candlestick holding pink unshaded tapers. At tractive favors marked the place of each guest. The young hostess was assisted in entertaining by her mother, Mrs. J B. Sapp, and Mrs. H. H. Philips. The guest list included Janice Hill, Myrtice Phillips, Sarah Shiver Annie Lou Burge, Florence Bulge Robert Hill, Leonard Hill, G. 1) Burge, S. P. Bur ge, Forrest Phil lips and Mary Kate Burge. * * ♦ BEAUTIFUL PARTY FOR AUGUSTA VISITORS. Mrs. F. M. Barrett and Miss Vivi an Curry, of Augusta, the charming guests of Mrs. V. B. Oliver, shared honors at the beautiful bridge and forty two party Tuesday afternoon, at which Mrs. J. T. Stukes and Mrs. H. C. White were joint hostesses at their homes in the Johnson apart ments. The reception rooms of the two apartments were thrown together and most attractiely decorated with a profusion of gayly colored garden flowers, sunflowers, zinnias, an<- lupines filling exquisite flower jars and baskets, ‘and floor vases held clusters of beautiful crepe myrtle in the lovely shades of deep pink and lavender. Late in the afternoon after the conclusion of the games, a delight ful salad course with an ice and iced tea was served. The hostesses were assisted in en tertaining by Mrs. T. J. Fay, Mrs | E. B. Hill, Mrs. W. O. Eastcrim, and Mrs. E. S. Bland. The guest list included five tables of bridge players and four tables of forty-two. Mrs. L. W. Slappey and three chil dren have returned from a delight ful visit to Mrs. B. H. The many friends of Miss Sara Hamrick w ill be glad to learn that she is getting along nicely after un dergoing a tonsil operation at the Doctors Building. Mr. and Mrs. T. F. Bradley, Sr., and young son, Philip, were the spend the day guests Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. IL D. Bradley. Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Bradley and sister, Miss Carrie Bradley spent Saturday night, and Sunday at. the home of Mr. and Mrs. T. F. Brad ley, Sr. Mrs. Estelle Garland and little son, Jack, left this afternoon for Columbus to visit Dr. and Mrs. Henry W. Brooks. Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Ogletree, Miss Lona Maye Youngblood; Bob Stone, Raymond Ogletree, and Ben Power, of Byromville, were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Brad ley Sunday afternon at their home near Huntington. Miss Lona Youngblood and Ben Power, of Leesburg, is spending sev eral days with her sister, Mrs. J. L. Ogletree at Byromville. Miss Frances Slade, of Cordele, is the guest of her aunt, Mrs. Hen ry Christian at her home in the Mc- Leod apartments. Frank Stapleton loft last night for Atlanta to spend seeral days, and will return to Americus the latter part of the week. Miss Lucille McAnally has re turned to Atlanta after a visit of two weeks with Mrs. R. A. Ratley at her home on Forrest street. Mrs. James Todd and two young sons, of Mt. Mrs. Tbdd is pleasantly remembered as Miss Eugenia Collins. Mrs. J. Epps Brown, of Atlanta, arrived today to spend several days with Mrs. W. P. Wallis at her home on College and Forrest, en route to Lumpkin, where she will visit her mother, Mrs. Stokes. Mrs. Brown resided in Americus at one time. Misses Clarice Kennedy and Haru Duke spent Tuesday afternoon with Miss Mattie Lewis Kitchens. Miss Clarice Kennedy left Friday night for Jacksonville, Fla., after a most delightful two weeks visit with Miss Haru Duke. She will visit friends and relatives at Jacksonville before returning to her home at Plant City, Fla. Mr. and Frs. C. A. Head and sen, Leroy, Mrs. Allen Head and children, of Greens mill, spent.
