“Held without bail.” With those
words, Edith Parker Davis’ cup of
remorse filled to overflowing. Led
into court in New York to be’ar
rainged on the charge of shooting
to kill her husband, she moaned over
and over “Don’t let him die. I love
him so.” With face buried in her
hand she b-tened to the district at
torney as he read the charges
against fa r, violating the Sullivan
law in tnat she had a pistol in her
possession without a permit, and of
attempting to kill her husband. And
when the judge held her without
bail to await the outcome of her
husband s injuries. Edith Davis was
led back to her cell with tears
streaming down her face.
