RICHLAND REPORTS CROWDED SCHOOLS RICHLAND, Sept. 11. (Special) The Richland public school opened with more than 300 pupils on Au gust 31st. Supt. A. B. Phillips ex pects the 400 mark to be reached by the end of the month. It has been necessary to add several teach ers to the faculty owing to the con gestion in some grades and vacancy caused in the second grade by the resignation of Miss Carolyn Cheeves of Cuthbert, Ga., who was given a scholarship to Brenau col lege. She is succeeded by Miss Jeanette Bqß. of Millen. ' Mrs. D. M. Howard, a graduate of THURSDAY AFTERNOON. SEPTEMBER 10. 1925 Nearly 1200 persons were made homeless by a tire at Shreveport, La., which destroyed 200 dwellings and caused a property loss estimat ed from, $750,000 to $1,000,000. The flames ate away a strip of the residential section 2000 feet long and 1000 feet wide. Six persons were injured fighting the fire. Here is one part of the devastated sec tion. Georgia State Woman’s college at Valdosta and a former teacher in colleges in Georgia and Illinois, has also been added to the faculty as home economics instructor.
