FRIDAY AFTERNOON, SEPTEMBER 11, 1925 RAIN INSURANCE ISTHINGOFPAST Long Drouth Has Helped to Cwe People of Gambling Elements ATLANTA, Ga, Sept. 11.—Laid to rest beside Mah Jongg, the Ouija board and other fads of their day is the once popular custom of in suring against rate, say Atlanta in surance men. The current dry sea son, they explain, has just about cured those who once liked to draw out insurance on all occasions. If people experience a long drought, one insurance agent said, they will not look for rain at an early date while, if there is a rainy season, they are more likely to expect rain fall to continue. Just a few years ago, an agent remarked everyone went wild on the subject of rain insurance. The weather was used to gamble with. Now, the restrictions for prevention of those, who do not deserve the in surance, taking it out have been made very effective and no one cares to go through with ejrtra trou ble to gamble in it. Fifteen days notice have to be given and an af fidavit made out for the one who takes insurance. Football games this fall, it is said, will be insured and this will give a boost to the business, but at the present time only a few are insuring. Some oSbasions which are insured are dances, athletic con tests, sales and days on which heavy business is expected. Rain insurance men bf the city are praying to be delivered from the present drought the same as other people. . CREW HAD BEEN ' WITHOUT FOOD FOR FOUR DAYS tbe battleship fleet, ordered all ships engaged in the search to re turn to Pearl Harbor at once. Navy officers gave the highest praise and credit for the finding of the plane to Commander Frank C. Martin, commanding the submarine base here, who stationed his submarines in the positions which enabled them to pick up the seaplane 216 hours after it had dropped into the sea. In Honolulu the city went wild Try Our Devii’s-Food and Sponge Cake They are Delicious &W ■ I L, ■■ ■ ’ Bur S' '^ :; ' _-*ray}.%£ .ui/ju&rv *< ?< Domestic Bread Always Makes Better Meals r Your Grocer Handles Domestic Bread and Cakes > ” MODEL BREAD CO. White clad sailors from the recently ar rived fleet were conspicious in the crowds. Distribution of newspapers with stories of the finding of the aviators almost caused several pan ics. . The aircraft tender Pelican also was orded to the north to assist in towing the PN-9 number 1 back to Pearl Harbor. | A late message from R-4 inter cepted here last night said that ;:The submarine R-4 is towing trans pacific plane to Nawilawili, (island of Kauai) and expects to arrive about eight o’clock. Please have small boat meet us at anchorage.” HARRISON NOEL’S CRIME SPURS DEMAND FOR LARGER ASYLUMS lantic Monthly and other well known magazines. His mother during all the years )yas his best friend and the one who had most influence with him. The notion to kidnap a child for ransom according to police, was formeci from the idea that he wished to give $4,000 to his mother. The hearing of “voices” directing one to peculiar conduct is a character istic of dementia praecox sufferers. Three cases of physical assault in the last three years might have served as warning. of the youth’s dangerous possibilities. In the sum- mer of 1923 while camping he at tacked his father, who was sleep ing, and cut his head with a boy scout hatchet. Confined in a priv ate sanitarium following that out break, he tore the arm from a chair and beat an attendant. Later while working his way to Europe as a i deckhand on the George Wash ington, he gave a beating to a cook. One of the most peculiar stories about Noel concerns the craving for I money. Going one day to see form er Scout Commissioner Gray with whom he had been associated in scout work, the youth said sudden ly: ' “You are an old man. Why don’t you die and leave me your money?” Gray felt uneasy and complained to the police. In the face of this unusual rec ord. Noel still W4S free to buy a ’ pistol, drive a car and come and go as his “voices” might dictate.
