TUESDAY AFTERNOON, SEPTEMBER 22, 1925 PAINS AND MS MAKE CHINESE OEM VICTIMS Missionary Says Yellow Man Uses Dope in Place of Medi cines OKLAHOMA City, Sept. W Chinese smoke opium because they know no other way to banish pais or fatigue, said R. A. Macleod, who recently returned from seven years as a missionary of the dis . of Christ in Tibet, and who will make one of the principal addresses at the International covention of the church here October 6-11. _ The Chinese are of great self control but, ‘Hike the rest of the human race, they are subject to the pains and ills of life,” Mr. MacLeod declared. In Yunnan Province, which is M large as California and with twice the number of inhabitants, the missionary pointed out, there is only one dentist and two doctors. If a man lias a tooth ache he knows no other means of relief except to smoke opium. Transportation facilities in the province are such that goods have to be carried by the people from one town to another. Somtimes a men will carry a burden of 100 pounds 25 miles a day for 15 days said Mr. MacLeod, and at the end of each day’s journeyfinds relief from his exhaustion smoking the opium pipe. “So it is,” the missionary ex plained, “that from pain which can not be relieved by any other means, - and from fatigue and exhaustion, the Chinese have become victims of the opium habit.” PAINS ALL OVER Lady Says She Took Cardin and Never Saw Such Improve* ment —Was So Weak Couldn’t Stand. Weathersby, Miss, —Mrs. James M. Hall, of this place, writes that she was "getting weaker all the time” when Cardui, the woman’s tonic, was first brought to her attention. After she had taken Cardui a while, she writes that she “never did see , such an improvement." “I suffered all the time and had pains all over,” says Mrs. Hall. “I was so weak I could not stand. My Skin was coM and flabby. I did not have any color. I had always l>een a very active woman —used to outdoor exercise, walking and going where I pleased, and to get down, not able to get myself a drink, was indeed a hardship. “Nothing seemed to help me, till I began on Cardui. The first bottle seemed to strengthen me, and I sent for five more. By the time I had taken these, I was on my feet, going around, doing my work, gained in health and strength. "I took two more bottles, and I am well and strong. Can work my garden. I haven’t had any more sickness.” Ask your druggist NC-165 Wednesday Thursday RY LANDER Ocean Breeze Adds to Comfort and Health Keep Cool and enjoy a high-class photoplay. ' ill '■; ■ | £&•..
