Mob Violence Feared TAMPA, Fla., Nov 5.—A ten year-old girl, the daughter of a prominent family of Sulphur springs was perhaps fatally injured here | ’Av. Wednesday afternoon, when she is said to have been criminally at tacked by a 55-year-old man. J. M. McMillan, proprietor of a fish market, is being held without bail in the county jan as the assail ant. He was positively identified by the child according to authori ties. , The little girl is under care of a physician at her home, and her con dition is reported as serious with only a slight chance of recovery. Sentiment was high following dis closure of the attack and mob viol ence was threatened. Scores of persons were searching for McMil lan when he was arrested and rush ed to the jail. Parents of the child swore out a warrant against him, but he fled the vicinity, it is said, and was not lo cated until several hours later. INDIGESTION!!! Minnesota, a palatial steamship of 280 feet, that was formerly used on the Great Lakes, will be convert ed into a floating hotel and anch ored in the placid waters of Biscayne Bay at Miami, Fla. The vessel is being completely re conditioned at New Orleans and will ■have 176 rooms. Miami hotels are having a wonderful season and it is expected that the Minnesota will prove very popular. J , Nov. s.—Mrs. William J. Clark, whose husband was killed by blows from a hammer as he entered his garage in Hillsside, N. J. Wednesday, confessed today to Chief of Detectives Galation that she and Joseph Cowen, a friend of the family had saved an elopment fund of $2,000. The money, she said, was on deposit in a Newark bank. Cowen is being held without bail. According to Galation, Mrs. Clark begged her to run away with him, but that she had refused. She ad mitted that Cowen had been at the Clark house until after 5 o’clock Monday, leaving shortly before her I husband came home. Although she had co-operated with Cowen in saving the elopment fund. Mrs. Clark said she never had prom ised to run away with him. A monument to Robert Fulton, in ventor of the steam boat, is to be erected in a small French town where he conducted tests with a min iature steamboat in 1802. AMEHICL > I IMF.:-' REC ORDER I INCREASE IN TOBACCO ACREAGE IN THOMAS THOMASVILLE, Ga., Nov. 5. ' Guy S. Jones, manager of the Thom as county tobacco warehouse, states that according to the acreage already signed up there will be an increase in tobacco acreage in Thomas coun ty of about 100 per cent over that of this year and that a great deal of work is being done towards en couraging the crop. Eight demonstrators are being worked in the Thomas county field for the market here next season, the demonstrators working near Thom asville, Coolidge, Boston, Ochlock nee, Pavo and Meigs.
