PAGE SIX DISABLED MEH SHOULD FILE CLAIMS AT ONCE I C. L. Brownell Issues Statement j to Sumter County Disabled Veterans November 11th, 1925, will be sev-1 en years after ts-e signing of rhe j Armistice that ended the hostiiit.es ■ of the World War. For the disabled j veteran of that war the United j States Government allows a limit or live year «fter discharge of the he- j .ginning of a disability, if the dis- | ability began after discharge, in [ which to file claim for compensation I with the United States Veterans’ i Bureau. Two additional years are ; added to this time limit for good I cause shown. , It follows, therefore, that the time I limit has expired for the veteran > whose disability existed at discharge ; and was discharged in 1917 and dur ing the first ten months of 1918, and j expires daily as the seventh anniver- ‘ sary of discharge rolls around. ‘“1 would like to call attention | again to this expiring time limit,” said C. L. Brownell, executve ■ committeeman of the American Le- ] gion “and to urge all veterans who | believe they have disabilities due to ■ their service to file claim. Depend ent parents are also vitally affect- | ed by this time limit. Claims are j. payable to dependent parents who were dependent on the veteran at j date of his death (provided he died I of disabilities due to service) or who, within five years ot the veteran’s death, adverse circumstances have been placed in such a position as , would have made them dependent had the veteran lived. Mr. Brownell will furnish further information about the above men tioned matters and any others, in sofar as possible, afecting the dis abled veteran of the War with Spain , or the World War. j LESLIE ( K In a recent election for Justice of , Peace for 15th District, Mr. Frank , Wilson, Jr., was elected to fill the i vacancy made Mr. J.
