THURSDAY AFTERNOON. NOVEMBER 19, 1925 STREET PAVING CONTR ACT LET Waycross Lets Contract tc Atlan ta Concern. Five Miles Streets to Be Paved WAYCROSS, Ga., Nov. 19.—Con tracts for the paving of approxi mately five miles of highway streets ■within the city limits of Waycross were let Wednesday. The McDougal Construction Company of Atlanta, was the successful bidder, their bid on the contracts being $21,600. The specifications for the paving call for a five-inch concrete basis; a ohe and one-half inch binder, and one inch of sheet asphalt. Work on the paving will commence as soon as the necessary machinery and ma terial can be placed here. Approximate! ytwelve of the lead ing construction companies in the South were represented in the bid ding. The city commission held two ; sessions, one in the morning and another in the afternoon at which time the contracts were awarded, specifications are now being pre pared for the paving of a number of additional city blocks, under the baby bond plan. Immediately fol lowing the completion of the speci fication bids for the paving of these streets will be advertised. MISS ISRAEL MAKES GOOD; I Her School Is Awarded Blue Rib bon in School Exhibits at Bleckley Fair i Reports have been received to the j effect that Cary Junior High school, b with Miss Florence Israel, Sumter . county girl as principal, has been awarded the blue ribbon for school exhibits at the Bleckley County Fair. Miss Israel was a graduate of the Americus High school and since her graduation has been teaching as prin cipal in the Bleckley county and Cochran schools. She is receiving the congratulatmns of friends in her work at the school at Cary, and reports from there are to the effect that she is a very ef ficient teacher. DUTCH ANDERSON’S PAL GETS LIFE TERM MUNICE, Ind., Nov. 19.—Charlie ‘‘One Arm” Wolfe, alleged compan ion of Gerald Chapman and the late “Dutch” Anderson, tonight Was found guilty of first degree murder in Delaware county circuit court in connection with the slaying of Men Hance on August 14. The jury rec ommended life imprisonment. U. S. BANKERS LOAN ITALY $100,000,00 NEW YORK, Nov. 19.—A loan of $100,000,000 to the Italian govern ment insuring financial support for the restoration of the gold standard in Italy has been arranged through a group of American banks headed by J. P. Morgan and Company. FLYING SQUADRON TO LECTURE HERE The Flying Squadron Foundation of Indianapolis. Ar- thur Holt, below, went to trial in Waukegan, 111., for the murder of Mrs. Lillian Holt, her mother and his wife. The state charges they were enamoured of one another On trial with them is Albert Harcq, Mrs. Harcq’s husband, who is held to have had knowledge of the alleged plot.
