FEE THE TRANSFER MADE. AND THE STATE ROAD RECEIVED AND TURNED OVER AGAIN. rxjEtrt P. P, P. Cures scr'ofu .A r P.P.P. Cures dyspepsia HETMAN DnggliUjLij | The Correspondence Between The Governor and Freitdenta Brown and Thomas—Groat Caution Shown. Special to Rscouncu. Atlanta, Dec. 27.—At midnight the State mail panned into the liatida of tlie Nashville, Cbattaooo* ga A St. Louie Railroad company, tlie new leasees. The formal pa pers were drawn aud passed during tlie afternoon, so there were no formalities when the change ac tually wentluto effect. All trains leaving either end of the line at 11:16, or after, were, by agreement, under jurisdiction of the new com pany. The old company paid its last rental $21,774.20, to-day. Senator Brown's letter to Gov ernor Noilheu is the transfer to the State of the road and ail appur* tences and of the rolling stock, ma cbiuery received by the leases from the Slate or their equivalents. He further states that the new lessees may examine this rolling stock and Other property, aud.iu caae they don't think it cornea up to the property, as received by the old lessees, the old company aud the Governor will agree upon some method of ascertaining just how much should be lair to make up the deficiency. Or, the old lessees are willing to leave the matter to the commission. In Governor jiorthen’s acknowl edgement oi the receipt la the clause: "It being understood that the State does not acknowledge ac tual receipt of all the property, hut reservea the right to require the ac tual delivery of all of the property within UO days, tlie substitution of other property, or adequate pay ment of the value thereof; and this receipt is given with the guaranty of said corporation Unit it will make such delivery, substitution or pay ment." To this, Senator Brown attaches tlie agreement of the company. Then President Thomas' receipt was given to Governor Northern It contains the same promires about receipt for the property, Sensational rumors about bitches in the transfer were allout during tho day, and they were revived during (he evening with increased force. The story was that the tiunsfer might he. prevented by Internal disseueious between old and new lessees; that Senator Brown was making a tight to keep tlie prestnt ofileers, attorneys and all, in con trol of l lie property, and that he lmd prepmed injunction paper* lo prevent the transfer unless liis de- niatida were acceded to. There was a meeting of tlie new lessees and old out at Seuutor Brown's house to-night and this was used by the rurnrr managers to bolster up tliier stories of inter nal dissension. o,iv rot The talk probably grew out of the ?no"n"«T«“r^is"'; appointment of Judge i'.frdee, of X*cucorrti4r«orWhit?'
