HUDSON ON NINE COMMITTEES.
Senator From the Thirteenth Well
Favored.
Senator Thomas O. Hudson, who
spent yesterday among his many
Americas friends and constituents,
•will return tomorrow to bis duties at
the capital. The appointment of 8ena
tor Hudson to place upon nine im
portant senate committees is an attest
of his ability and likewise of the es
teem in which he is held by President
Howell. Senator Hudson was made
chairman of the Committee on Pen
sions, vice chairman of the Committee
on Agriculture, and a member of the
Committees on Finance, Education
and Publio Schools, Constitutional
Amendments, General Judiciary
Special Judiciary, Rules and Peni
tentiary.

The Best Remedy For Croup.
[From the AtcMnson, Kan., Daily Globe
This is the reason when the woman
who knows the best remedies for croup
1< in demand In every neighborhood.
One of the most terrible things In the
world is to bo awakened in the middle
of the night by a whoop from one of the
children. The croup remedies are al
moat as sure to be lost, in case of croup,
as a revolver is sure to be lost In case
of burglars. Thero used to be an old
fashioned remedy for oroup, known as
hive syrup and tolu, but some modern
mother’s say that Chamberlain’s Congh
Remedy Is better, and does not oost so
mooh. It causes the patient to "throw

NOTHING DOING IN POSTOFFICE.
That Appointment Still Continues
- Withhold.
That long expected appointment of
postmaster of Americas seems perma
nently pigeon-holed at Washington
despite the general belief that the va
cancy existing for two months would
very soon be filled. The petition cir
culated here by friends of Mr. Henry
Wetteroth has doubtless been sent to
Washington already. In the mean
while the duties of postmaster are be
ing ably discharged by Assistant
Postmaster F. P. Mitchell, who is
himself an applicant for the position
made vacant by the death of Post
master Smith, and with excellent pros
pects of getting the appointment.
