BUILD NEW ROAD
FROM MARION
Another County^is Awaken
ing Already.
Americns Will Soon Have Excellent
Road Westward to Buena Vista,
the Capital of Our sister County,
From Americus to Buena Vista, the
pretty little capital city of Marion
county, twenty-six miles away, theie
will soon be constructed another good
road which will facilitate travel be
tween the two county capitals and en
hance realty values along the way, as
has been done In Sumter.
Marlon's itlzens are alive to the
necessity 'of good roads, and one of the
first to be constructed will he lu the
direction of Americus.
Start on Monday.
The Marlon county chaingang w
come to the Marion-Su inter line early
Monday morning 1'iext and begin rood
building near the McGarrah planta
tion, working back in the direction
Buena Vista.
The distance is about twelve miles,
and the road will traverse a fine farm
ing section.
At the Marlon-Sumter line It will
connect with the Friendship road,
leading out of Americus, and thus form
a continuous highway to Buena Vista
This Is the road generally known
the "Godwin Road,” six miles of whlci

From the E. h. Bell* farm, five and
a half miles out from Americus, the
Friendship road needs work to the
point at which it will intersect the
Marlon road.
Only Mne Miles to Fix.
The distance Is probably nine miles
end while the road is In fairly pas
able condition for heavy loads,
doe3 not compare with many of the
fine highways in Sumter. However,
this link of nine miles can rapidly be
worked out ere long by the county
forces.
When this Is done ,a fine road
twenty-six miles, -Amerlcua to Buena
Vista, will be added to the network
of good roads here.

Is so unmistakably capable looking
that the doorkeepers paused. There
was a hasty Investigation.
It did not seem likely that women
lawyers who attained the dignity
-practice before the supreme court
would he so swayed by feminine emo
tlons as to don a skirt that showed
tendencies toward the hobble Idea.
Some of the court officials were net
certain In their own minds fhut the
hobble feature was there, so Miss Burd
was not molested. She Is likely to go
down In history as the first woman
Who, by her appearance before the
supreme court, proved that her sex can
attain the greatest distinction in store
for attorneys without putting behind
them what is regarded as the feminine
devotion to the dictates of fashion.

That can’t be done by the regular
