Charlie Caldwell lost a mule last week. He is undecided as to what caused its death. Some say it was fed too much, but Charlie says he gave it some cattle powders and it died in 24 hours thereafter. Some rending that will prove in teresting to mothers. How to guard against the disease. Gfoup is a terror to young mothers and to post them concerning the cause, first symptoms and treatment is the object of this 'tern. The origin of croup, is a common cold. Children who are subject to it take cold very easily and croup is almost sure to fol¬ low. The first symptom.is hoarse¬ ness; this is soon followed by a pecu¬ liar rough cough, which is easily re¬ cognized and will never be forgotten by one who has heard if. The time to act is when the child fust becomes hoarse. If Chamberlain’s Cough Remedy is freely given all tendency to croup will soon disappear. Even af ter the croup cough has developed it will prevent the attack. There is no danger in gi ring this remedy for ft contains nothing injuiious. For sale by Dr. II. J. Reid. Thank*givin* Service*. Ed Advocate-Democrat; In your issue of last week, I sec notice that an attempt will be made, by petition of citizens of Taiiaferro County, to have repealed the law establishing a Board of Commissioners of Roads and Revenues in and tor this county. The said petition is now in the bands of our Representative, arid without a counter petition, asking no repeal of said law, our Representative can do nothing to prevent its passage. Is it the wish of the people of Taliaferro to abolish the Board of Commissioners? If not t»e signing the “Counter petition," ask¬ ing the legislatnre, to not repeal the law establishing said Board. It has been my privilege to see the pe¬ tition, asking to abolish the Board of Com¬ missioners, and I think, many of the peti¬ tioners after some reflection would re-eon sider, and a-k to retain the board. In writing this 1 intend no disrespect to anyone signing the first named petition, nor do I mean any annoyance in giving my views on this matter, for I concede to all to have and express their Views c, na {[ matter* pertaining to the county’s interest, and tru*t that all will make mani farttbi * *P’ r it in determining whether w. wiii continue or abolish the Board of Com Koais and Revenue* in and f or Taliaferro County. A dun is not an impeachment of a subscriber’s integrity, but is simply an outpouring of a pub lisher’s necessities. For instance 1,000 men owe a rnan from £1 to £10; be has to dun thorn in order to pay his expenses.
