order now with everybody.

hugely as he always does.

our town last Friday and Saturday with
his thorough bred stallion.
Mr, Love Mershon is Sharon’s stencil
painter now and by the way Love does
yery good work in that line.

been giving Mr. J. W. Fallen's residence
the finishing touch the past week.
Mr. E. E. Darden has started up a little
ox farm and his little son, George is su¬
perintending it. Hurrah for George.

pot. Great attractions in that direction.

up has been a big tiling with the farmers
for several days past and good weather
for it.

in our town last week repairing watches,
clocks and jewelry. lie also bought old
silver and gold.
Wc had a magician show by some col¬
ored people in Sharon and Raytown last

Miliedgeville, lias been iu our town for
several days past. He has a gilt-edge
horse that he is standing in this section.

cock, was in our town last Saturday. Mr.
Ivey is well known in this section aud he
certainly is a hard nut to crack.
We thiuk our Sharon and Raytown
people ought to come together and get up
>little programme for Memorial day aud
meet with Crawfordville on the 2Gth.
[Good idea. Let’s have a reunion.—Ed.]
Three cripple men in our town last
Friday begging und our citizen’s respond¬
ed to them and they went and bought
whiskey with the money. It was soon
found out that they were playing off and
they left in a double quick order.
HOW TO FIND OUT.
Fill a bottle or common water glass with
lirih and let it stand twenty-four hours; a
sediment or settling indicates a diseased
Condition of the kidneys. When urine
stains linen it is positive evidence ot kid¬
ney tfduble. Too frequent desire to uri¬
nate ot pain in the back, is also Convinc¬
ing proof that the kidneys and bladder are
out of order.
WHAT TO DO.
There is comfort in the knowledge so
Often expressed, that Dr. fvilmer’s Swamp
Root, the great kidney remedy fulfills
every wish in relieving pain in the back,
kidneys, liver, bladder and every part of
tlie uniary passage. It corrects inability
to hold urine and scalding pains in passing
it, or bad effects following use of liquor,
wine or lieer, and overeomes)that uiijileas
ant necessity of being compelled to get
up many times during the night to uri¬
nate. The mild and the extraordinary
effect of Swamp-Root is soon realized. It
stands the highest for its wonderful cures
of the most distrr-singjcascs. If you need
a medicine you should have the best. Sold

We have not a single idle hand In our
town, The colored people have all taken
to the country it seems, and gone to farm¬
ing, If you want a little extra job done
you have to do it yourself.
We have had a pretty cold snap for
several days past. Some thiuk the fruit
is injured. We hope not though, there is
not much to Injure as the trees were brok¬
en up so by the sleet and freeze.
Mr. A, D. Moore killed a fine l;og last
week.
AU the beef you get now adays is al¬
ready seasoned with onions.
Rev. F. I\ and Dr. L. R. Brown have

turning from Washington. Charley is
always a welcome visitor to our burg.
Very few preachers, doctors or any
other professional men make a success at
farming they as a general rule don’t have
time to attend to it and their mind is on
their profession.

is no better lie is lying very low with
that dreadful disease consumption.
Col. Jim Edge, the old reliable, calls in
to see us occasionally and cracks his jokes
and tells his big yarns with as good grace
as ever. You can't get away with uncle
Jim when it comes to business on that
line.
Some of our townsmen enjoy them¬
selves now during their idle minutes in
mar ble play ing. Xt looks rathef foolish
to see grown people playing marbles but
ye Scribe is as big a fool as anybody
about it and I am fifty-five years old.
Mr. Ul wrance Battle of our town we
understand has bought himself a nice
horse and buggy. The next thing Mr.
Battle will look after we expect will be
to take to himself a nice lady for his com¬

investment we thiuk.

take on these hard times.

one day last week. The single tree broke
and the Doctor had to walk in town but
he soon got it mended up again by going
