Crawfordville was visited Sat urday night and Sunday by an old lady who created a able sensation. She came in late and applied for lodging at the hotel and when told the fare was 50 cents, she abused the town and said such charges were extortionate. She found lodging at Mr. W. H. Stewarts, and early in the morning she took in the town, going in at a half dozen or inore houses. She would not tell her but wanted to leave a little box at several places and as our citi zens wore justly afraid to take in boxes left by strangers at this time of contageous diseases st dicing abroad in our southland, she would fire up and bless out everything and everybody, say¬ ing the town was too poor to have yellow fever and that she owned two plantations in South Georgia and that she could buy the town outright. She gave her name as Mrs. Wilson and said she had been on a visit to relatives in North Car olina. After ‘ laying out” the town she went to the depot and declared she would have the agent discharged because he was not at his post of duty by 7 o’clock Sunday to take charge of her baggage. She bought a ticket to Barnett and said she would visit a friend of hers at t nit. place and from there she wauld go to Washington whore Silt! ' had had *59 sent her from her plantation. Our people think sho was either insane or she was put off tho train here by health officers for the lack of a health certifi cate. A woman of the same descrip¬ tion was in Athens one day last wee >k paying her respects to that city. There is more Catarrh in this section of tho country than all other diseases put together, aud until the last few years was sup postal to be incurable, For a great many years doctors pro¬ nounced it a local disease, aud prescribed local remedies, and by constantly failing to cure with local treatment pronounced it in¬ curable. Science has proven catarrh to be a constitutional disease, and therefore requires constitutional treatment. Hall’s Catarrh Cure, manufactured by F. J. Cheney & Co.. Toledo, O.. is tho only constitutional cure on the market. It is taken internal¬ ly in doses from 10 drops to a teaspoon fill. It acts directly on the blood and mucous surfaces of the system. There is probably no one better known in Gedalia, especially among the members of the First Baptist Church, than Mrs. Mollie E. Roe, the wife of Mr. Roe, the nursery man, and nothing is better known among the lady's acquaintances, than that for the past four years she has been a physical wreck from locomotor ataxia, in its severest form. That she has recently recovered her health, strength and normal locomotion has been made apparent by her being seen fre¬ quently ou the streets and in church, and this fact induced a representative of the Capital to call on Mrs. Roc to enquire into the circumstances of her remarkable recov¬ cry. ers. Roe was seen at her house at the corner of Ohio Avenue and Twenty-fourth Street, and seemed only too glad to give the following history of her case for publication “I : “Four years ago," she said, was at¬ tacked with a disease which the and physicians diagnosed as locomotor ataxia, I was speedily reduced to a mere wreck. I had no control of ray muscles, and could not lift the least thing. My flesh disappeared, until rav bones almost pierced ray skin. The. sense of touch became so exquisitely sensitive, that I believe I could by walking over the softest carpet blindfolded, have counted every seain, so it may be imagined how I felt when try¬ ing to move my uncontrollable limbs. “ The most eminent physicians relief, were and con- I suited, but they gave and me would no have prayed was without hope, thought of leaving for death but for the my little children. All thought of recovery had gone, and it was only looked upon as a question of time by my husband uud my friends when my troubles would end in the grave. ANNOUNCEMENT --BY- P. B. Tobin Cotton Co.
