The Democratic State Executive Com¬ mittee. has called two conventions, one to meet June 29th, 1898, to nominate can¬ didates for Governor, Secretary of State, Comptroller General, Commissioner of Agriculture, State School Commisaioner, Attorney General, Prison Commissioner, and State Treasurer; the other to meet July 20th, 1898, to nominate candidates for a Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, and Aasociate Justice for full turn of six years, and another Associate Justice for the unexpired term of Justice Atkinson, yiz: two years. There are, under the call of the Executive Committee, to be two distinct primaries; on June 6th for Gov¬ ernor and State house officers not judicial; the other June 28rd, for Supreme Court Justices only. At each primary, the voters will cast their ballots directly for the candidates of their choice for the various offices to be fiiied, and the County- Democratic Execu¬ tive Committees are to appoint the dele¬ gates to the two State Conventions, respect¬ ively, from among the friends of the successful candidates. Yrur attention is called to the fact that the three places to be tilled in the Supreme Court are separate and distinct offices, as above indicated, and the ballots for these places should be prepared accordingly. I send you enclosed a correct form of ballot for each of the primaries, leaving blank lines for the candidates names. Permit me to suggest that for the gener¬ al information of Democratic voters, you request the party papers published in your I county to print this Ietle. - and also the two forms of ballots herewith sent. In this way, the action taken by the State Committee will be brought to tire attention of all members of the party, and there need be uo occasion for any mistake or 1 misappiehension as to the proper method of conducting the primaries.
