It was free to all wl, a wished to participate. They had no party in it. They were glad that they had gained the victory arid bid all to come and be welcome. They had plenty to feed all. This shows to our mind that we are frieuds, or ought to be, for the sake of our coming generation. I hayc always voted a,Democratic ticket. We Populists are Democrats lmt the question was, whi^ii was Ithe best Democrat. Both parties hlfl thsiir views on these lines and we hope, after this, all will stand together as a free American people. V'alkwag^preftclicd a sermon hist, ij-auvtny frojm John 3.7 ‘‘Yt must be born again." We are sorry to chronicle the death of Mr. Frank Johnson, lie pawed away Sunday morning about 5 o’clock. He has been sick a good long time and was ready to go at his fathers bidding. He felt like he would be better off. He mid that lie was ready. If we all could feel 1 that »ny, it would be a blessing for us all, What will the prohibitionist do now they have got an owner of a bar room to represent them in the legislature; where i are those who worked so faithfully for it? Did any of them vote for the bar room men? What are you going to do when you have the chance again to vote for prohibition? Every man and woman who are in favor of prohibition ought to begin that great work now and in the course of four years they might do a great work. They can organize temperance lodges all over Ibis old county and tirot would be a great thing. It would give the young people somewhere to meet and enjoy themselves and bring many young man into the work of temperance. The young ladies could do a big thing , 011 this line if they would go at it right. We don’t mean to go back on them but I We think they are largely responsible for | the way some of the young men act. If every young lady in this county would turn her back on the boys intoxicated when they go where the girls are, they would stop so much drinking. They would soon find out that a bottle of whiskey is not what it takes to make a gentleman of a young man. Don’t hesi¬ tate to tell them what you think of a young man who does such a thing. This would soon stop that kind of business. We believe all the real good work is in the good women. She can touch a hard heart so much quicker than a. man. She is firmer in what she says than a man is She is more stable in her ways than a man. Some will preach one thing and do an other. There are men who will preach prohibition and vote for bar room*. That u not practicing what they preach. That is not religion. It, is a fearful thing to claim to be a christain and yet show to the world so plainly that you do not feel that interest in religious affairs. We ought to never do a thing we can’t ask God to be with us in. AVe don’t see how a man, who claims to know God iu the forgiveness of his sins, can vote for whiskey. AVe need that , far—we - t . how any not go can tee good citizens even votes that way. A man is responsible for the way he lives and raises his boys.
