We arrived at Savannah on July 1‘Jth and were meet there by Mr. Pleas Sto\ all of the Savannah Press and weie gi\en a nice car ride around the city. Savannah is one of the prettiest cities in the South and* the elec, ric car ride through her broad streets bordered with hM1<ls “' w t-^. “"f oli “ gro\ es, wasveij deiightiul and “uch appreciated. Alter landing at tne depot bound for Tybee, we bought tickets and in a lew moments *e wore over the 15 mile stretch of P rairie marsh aud StaaChng around the counter at lybf» hotel trying to register aud m »>»- >° -r The hotel, the onely one on the island, was crowded and our party, nearly 200 strong, over¬ flowed things and it was after L 2 o’clock before some of them gut to bed aud then some slept on cots “in holes in the wall, as some of the boys called their rooms. We happened to better luck, however, as manage® Graham put us on a mosquitp net in the children s dining room —t hat is, we used the net for'a pillow. The rates at the hotel are $3 per day but our party had reduced rates —$2 per day. The next day was enjoyed strolling on the beach looking at the bathers aud picking up shells fresh from the bottom of *» great Atlantic. Tybee is one df the prettiest places on the south!-' era coast for bathing and enjoy ing a sea side outing. They have large pavillions for dancing, an? good music each afternoon* Bathing houses are ample and many of the dusty editors took advantage of a salty bath, w* meutwith several acquaintances from various parts of the state. It is a lovely place ail summer. Nights of the 13th and 14th we spent in Savanah where wa found the handsome rooms aud fare at the DeSoto more suited to our fancy. the This finest popular iu tb hog tel is one of South and is booming all thi oughj the winter with northern Jteople After seeing a few sights about the city we returned to Tybee and 1 enjoyed A a that h, dtli ,i:„ Rif, htiu 0 breeze again. While in Savanah several of the party were treated to lunch¬ eon at the Morning News office and were shown the terminals of the Central Railroad and the g rea t ocean ships run by that company< 1 J Savannah is a place and the Central Railroad is a great system doing a large shipping business both by steam¬ ers and by railroads. in savannah we found ex Sheriff Henry, Robt. A. David¬ son, and Lee Gunn all formerly ofTalial’erro county, doing well in that city. Saturday morning the 15th. we took passage over the Central Railroad to Augusta, the run being made quickly and pleas¬ antly. At Augusta, we had about one hour and a half which was spent looking around the city, arriving at Crawford ;it . o:10 - , r , Oi el .I. the . .ij jld re-lia j! Georgia Railroad. This road aud the Central of Georgia and their branches are well equip ped roads aud are doing a large k„el ’ n ncg than , the royttl , reception .. more and entertainment at Dublin, the Gem City by the Octal*.
