Aiignst Meeting.
The annual meeting at the
Baptist church here will begin
next Friday, Aug. 11th. Rev.
J. M. Brittan, of Covington,
will be here and will aid in carry
ing on the meeting. It is hoped
these services will do much good,

The annual meeting at the
Presbyterian church is in session,
commencing Thursday night, tue
4t.h of August. Rev.E. G. Smith,
of Greenesboro, is conducting
the services and he will preach
some excellent sermons, which
will do much good, it is hoped.
Only Two Lots Sold.
There were two pieces of the
Bristow lands sold Tuesday. both M^.
John F. Holden bought
pieces. One lot containing lft3
acres brought $8 55.00 and the
other containing 398 acres
brought 11,000.00. This land
sold cheap and is a splendid
investment.
Warehouses on North Side.
The Georgia Railroad has
bought a small strip of laud
near the new Ginnery and wilt
have the cotton seed warehouses
built thereon, leaving the old
seed warehouse lot vacant. It
will be an improvement on the
old plan of crowding the ware
houses ap close to the depot.

while other orchards in his
neighborhood produced none

A Jumbo Had dish.
Mr. Robt. McGibony brought
in a mddish yesterday which he
raised from seed sent out by the
Agricultural department. The
tuber measures twenty inc ies
long and over fifteen inches
around the largest part, and is
of the Yvliite variety. Mr. Mac.

An Egg Gourd.
Uncle Henning Murden
brought us a present Tuesday
f ro m his grand daughter, pretty
little 4 -year-old Mary Ellington
It was a gourd, so to speak, bu
was laid by a Taliaferro county
hen. The hen departed from
tlie old style oval shape and
tnade the egg with a perfect
handle on one end. A has a liari
shell and is the greatest curios
tv in the egg line we ever saw.

Building: Two House!*.
Gol. Horace M. Holden has
j bought from Mr. W. R. Reid his
j place near town where the home
was burned last Christmas a year
ago, and is having a six room
house built on the old s te. The
building and lot has been rented
to Mr. Wm. N. Gunn who will
move there this fall. It is a
nice place for a home, and we
.Welcome Mr. and Mrs. Gunn to
our town again. Their house
hold goods were burned in the
house formerly destroyed on this
lot. Mr. Holden is having
another four room house built on
the knoll just this side of the one
above mentioned.
—Mr. J. W. Asbury is recover¬
ing from his sprained foot.
