Steel Magnolias a Hit

last weekend to see “Steel
Magnolias”, written by Robert
Harling, at Little Theater in
Washington. Jason LeBlanc
and Joey Pruitt directed this
performance.
Elaine and Tom Rivera and

was great-so well rehearsed.
It was hilarious but the end will
make you cry.
Tickets are only $15 and well
worth it. Become a member and
you get free tickets throughout
the year.
Next up will be the Youth

through June 16. During these
two weeks, children ages fourth

little theater-from performance
techniques to lighting to
directing. Registration for youth

private and homeschooling
children are welcome.
Then September 3, 4, 5
will be Children’s Playhouse.

Statewide Bible Reading
The Statewide Bible Reading
is coming up in about 3 months.
In an houror less the entire Bible
will be read across the state of
Georgia. On July 14 at 7:14AM,
Taliaferro County will read Mark
13-Luke 1 on the courthouse
steps.
Every county in the state
of Georgia (159) will gather at
each courthouse and read a
short passage from the Bible.
The basis for this reading is
taken from 2 Chronicles 7:14, “If
my people, who are called by my
name, will humble themselves,
and pray and seek my face, and
turn from their wicked ways,
them I will hear from Heaven,
Skate Night

by Sheriff Tia McWilliams,
Commission Chairman,
Shawanco Alexander, and
Crawfordville Mayor Pat
Stewart.
Be on the lookout for the date
and time.
and forgive their sin and heal
their land.”

U.S. Senate held hearing over USPS delays at
metro Atlanta distribution center
By WSBTV.com News Staff
April 16,2024 at 7:44 am EDT
The United States Senate
held a hearing in the Homeland
Security and Governmental
Affairs Committee on Tuesday
regarding oversight of the U.S.
Postal Service.
Channel 2 Action News
has been reporting for months
about customers’ frustrations in
metro Atlanta, particularly with a
distribution center in Palmetto.
There have been repeated
calls for oversight of USPS from
members of the U.S. House and
Senate to both correct issues
causing the delays and bring
accountability.
On Tuesday morning, the
U.S. Postmaster General Louis
DeJoy was in the hot seat.
Both democrat senators,
republican representative
Barry Loudermilk and most
of Georgia’s congressional
delegation have signed letters
demanding answers from
DeJoy.
In recent months, Channel
2 Action News has spoken
with frustrated customers who
mailed important letters or
packages, only to see them not
get delivered on team.
“It’s poor planning, it’s bad
management,” USPS customer
Tenisha Tidwell told Channel 2
Action News.

Southland Jubilee celebrates 24 years
Walking up to the smell
of freshly fried funnel cakes
in Downtown Greensboro is
what many will experience on
Saturday, April 20, which only
means one thing: Southland
Jubilee has arrived.
People from all over will gather
on the streets of Greensboro
to participate in the fun, family-
friendly event. There will be a
variety of new and returning
vendors throughout the streets
of downtown Greensboro, along
with a blast from the past, as you
walk down South Main Street
to enjoy the Classic Car Show
that is put on each year by the
Georgia Classic Cruisers.
Southland Jubilee has
developed the reputation across
the region as a quality heritage
arts festival and is unlike any of its
kind. Along with exposing visitors
to the charm of Greensboro and
providing attendees with a full
day of fun, Southland Jubilee
is known for bringing the entire
community together.
Walking down South Main
Street is a sight to all, whether
you know a lot about classic cars
or nothing at all, it is something
that many people tend to enjoy.
You can go up and talk to the
people who own the cars,
take tons of pictures and ask
members from the local car
club questions that you may
have regarding classic cruisers.
You can find all kinds of cars
that have been remodeled from
the 50s, 60s, and 70s including
Camaros, Corvettes, Chevelles
and GTOs.
In addition to the handmade
arts and crafts vendors and
the classic cars, the younger
attendees will enjoy a fun time
in the Children’s Area. This
area will include a spider-jump,
trackless train rides, pickle ball,
face painting, kids games and
much more.
While in town, enjoy
touring our local churches and
museums. Multiple historic
churches will open their
sanctuary for tours. Visit First
Presbyterian Church, First
Methodist Church Greensboro-
Lake Oconee, and First Baptist
Church for sanctuary tours.
Also visit the Greene County
History Museum and the African
American Museum during the
Jubilee to see their displays.
The Greene County Ag Area,
sponsored by Farm Bureau and
4-H, will allow guests to interact
with farm animals from 10 a.m.
to 3 p.m. Also stop by their bake
sale for some delicious treats
made by local 4-H students.
And come to the Jubilee
hungry. Festival Food will be
all throughout the festival. In
downtown, you can find anything
from authentic Jamaican
food, fried fish, pork chops,
hamburgers, hot dogs, BBQ,
authentic Mexican food, and of
course funnel cakes, homemade
ice cream, mini pancakes and
much more!
Come for the day and stay
for the night! After Southland
Jubilee, head over to the Oconee
Brewing Company to enjoy a
comedy show. Tickets can be
purchased at the door or online.
