Georgia Power reminds customers to keep safety first when storms bring down trees and power lines Are you fully prepared for the battle? T ^ = / . Ruth Merritt Ephesians 6:10-17 Soliders are trained to keep their equipment ready! Weapons are cleaned and oiled, communications equipment is checked and double-checked, and helmets are kept in place in case of sudden attack. If we prepare so diligently to face a human enemy, Paul says, how much more ought we to prepare for battle against our spiritual enemy? Satan will attack, Paul says, and only the believers who are grounded in the truth will recognize his lies. Only a personal acceptance by faith of God’s love can protect our hearts from Satan’s fiery temptations. Listen, only a sure knowledge of salvation protects our minds from doubt. And only the Word of God and the power of Jesus Christ can cause Satan to flee in terror. That’s why we have to prepare with prayer! Ephesians 6:18 - Pray at all times and on every occasion in the power of the Holy Spirit. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all Christians everywhere. “Summer vacation is the chapter of the year written in the ink of ice cream and the joy of splashing in the sparkling blue pools. ” Georgia Power reminds its customers to always keep safety first, especially following storms with the potential to bring down trees and power lines. Just as it makes safety a priority for its employees, the company helps customers stay safe with important reminders to watch for and avoid downed wires including those that may be concealed by storm debris or standing water. Georgia Power teams are responding to scattered service interruptions following severe weather that hit the state overnight bringing heavy rains, lightning and high winds. Overnight, the company worked in the field and behind the scenes through its control centers, automated systems and smart grid technology, restoring service to more than 15,000 customers mainly in northern Georgia. With limited outages as of midday Thursday, crews are working to restore approximately 10,000 customers currently out statewide in the hardest hit areas. Teams will continue working until all customers are restored. The company continues to monitor severe weather expected today and overnight and encourages customers to stay weather aware. Georgia Power crews remain prepared to respond to new storms and outages should they occur. Important safety tips: • Never touch any downed or low hanging wire. Always assume power lines are energized. Report the location of any downed or low hanging line to local authorities at 911 and to Georgia Power’s outage reporting number: 888-891- 0938. • Never try to make your own electrical repairs to Georgia Power equipment. Let our highly trained crews do the dangerous work when it comes to restoring power. Never pull tree limbs off power lines as they could be energized.Never enter areas with debris or downed trees. Dangerous power lines may be buried in the wreckage. • Exercise caution near chain link fences. Dangerous lines may touch the metal. • Avoid stepping in standing water after a storm as it may conceal live power lines. • Never connect portable generators to your household electrical wiring.
