PAGE 3 THE ADVOCATE DEMOCRAT, Crawfordville, GA, Friday, June 7, 2024 Memorial Services Held For Emily Joyce Callaway Durm ' Emily Joyce Callaway Dunn, of Thomson, Georgia, formerly of Sparta and Clarksville, GA, passed away peacefully on May 29,2024. She was born April 22, 1942, in Greensboro, Georgia to the late Lawrence Felton Callaway and Annette Ogletree Callaway Cason. Emily graduated from Greensboro High School, Class of 1960. After that, she worked at W J Thurmond Grocery Store, where she met the love of her life, Jimmy Dunn. He was the owner/operator of Dunn Sausage Co. of Sparta, Georgia. Emily and Jimmy married on August 15, 1964. She was a wonderful homemaker to her family and helped in any way she could with running the family business. She was a loving wife and mother to her two sons. Emily was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 54 years, James “Jimmy” D. Dunn Jr.; a daughter, Elaine Denise Dunn and one Great Grandchild, Brooks Langston. Also preceded by two sisters, Betty Christie and Linda Ansley, and one brother, Billy Callaway. She is survived by her children: James D. “Junior” Dunn, III (Jackie) of Monroe, GAand Jerry (Lindsay) Dunn of Thomson, GA; her grandchildren Nicole (Cliff) Langston of Hull, GA, Jenifer Dunn of Monroe, GA, Davis, Cal, and Chelsea Dunn of Thomson, GA, and two great granddaughters, River and Saylor Langston of Hull, GA. She is also survived by a sister, Gloria (Billy) McAvoy of Washington, GA; a special brother-in4aw, Sonny Ansley, of Washington, GA; and a special sister-in-law, Emily Callaway, of Greensboro, GA, and several nieces and nephews. Her visitation will be held one hour prior to her Memorial Service at Beggs Funeral Home, 799 Cobbham Road, Thomson, GA 30824. Her Memorial Service, being officiated by Rev. Brian Hill, will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. in the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with the interment following at Culverton Cemetery, 310 Roy Smith Road, Sparta, GA 31087. Donald Harris, Pastor Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) anticipates delayed license and ID cards The Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) is urging customers to plan ahead and pack their patience while waiting to receive their driver’s license and IDs. “Due to circumstances beyond our control, there is a possibility that customers’ permanent driver’s licenses and/or ID Cards may be delayed in arriving,” announced DDS Commissioner Spencer R. Moore. The delivery of permanent cards may take longer than the 2-4 weeks typical timeframe. Customers should be patient and continue to carry their last issued license or ID and any paper interim licenses or IDs as well as receipts with them. DDS reminds customers to plan ahead and do not wait until their expiration date to renew. A Georgia license and/or ID Card can be renewed up to 150 days before expiration.
