It’s the tenth year for the
Taliaferro County Back to
School Bash and we, the BTSB

help in furnishing needed school
supplies to provide a great
experience for students who
need the help.
Teachers spend a lot out of
their own pockets each year, but
wouldn’t it be great if they could
get the support they need for
our children.
Businesses, churches and
individuals are welcome to set
up a table and provide supplies
for approximately 200 students.
Tables and chairs will be
provided.
Set your calendar for July 31

for a table, be at the school
gym by 4pm and ready to start
distributing your supplies at
5pm. Tables must remain in
place until 7pm.

Fisch Camp set to hit a home run!
Former Atlanta Braves All Star Players to assist at camp
Former Major League
Baseball player and Greene
County resident Mike Fischlin
is partnering up with Greene
County Recreation to host a
one day Baseball Camp called
“Fisch Camp.’’ Mike is bringing
in former Major League Baseball
All Stars from the Atlanta Braves
Andruw Jones, Kevin Millwood,
and Bruce Benedict to assist with
the Camp. Their presence will
provide young athletes with the
unique opportunity to learn from
some of the best in the game.
The camp will be held on
August 3 from 9 am to 2 pm at
the Greene County Recreation
Complex. This camp offers
a fantastic opportunity for
boys ages 7 to 14 to develop
their baseball skills under the
guidance of former MLB players
and experienced coaches.
The cost for the camp is $20
per player. This camp is open
to boys from Greene, Putnam,
Morgan, and surrounding
counties. Spaces are limited, so
early registration is encouraged
to secure a spot. Each participant
will receive lunch, drinks, and
a camp t-shirt. The camp will
include drills and instruction,
lunch, and age-appropriate
practice games. The size limit is
25 participants per age group,
with some room to expand if
necessary.
"We are very excited to offer
this camp to young athletes
in our community," said Camp
Host former MLB player Mike
Fischlin. "With the support of
these incredible MLB players, we
aim to create an unforgettable
experience that combines skill
development with the joy of the
game."
Fisch Camp is dedicated to
providing high-quality baseball
training to young athletes in a
fun and supportive environment.
Our experienced coaching
staff, alongside Major League
Baseball players, is committed
to fostering the development of
baseball skills, teamwork, and

Join us for an unforgettable day

The Sounds of Summer
Look what’s coming to First Presbyterian in Greensboro
Starting on June 23 the
“Sounds of Summer" are coming
to the First Presbyterian Church in
downtown Greensboro. Inspired
by the Biblical instruction to “sing
psalms, hymns and spiritual songs
to God," summer worship services
at 10 a.m. will feature psalms both
beloved and troubling in June,
favorite hymns in July, and songs
found in Scripture in August. In
addition, three Sunday evening
events are planned.
June 23 at 5:00 PM: The church
will be holding a Taize Prayer
Service...a simple, meditative
form of ecumenical worship
involving sung and chanted prayer,
meditation, periods of silence and
Scripture readings. This form
of Christian worship began with
a Swiss named Brother Roger
after a long convalescence from
tuberculosis. He left Switzerland
in 1940 and settled in the small
French village of Taize where he
began to form a community of
like-minded worshipers. During
World War II they provided safe
shelter to refugees, Jews and
agnostics fleeting the ravages of
war. Today the Taize community
has Catholic, Anglican and
Protestant members from nearly
thirty countries and numbers
around eighty...a tangible sign
of reconciliation between divided
Christians. We invite you to come
and experience this unique form
of meditation.
July 21 at 5:00 PM: Something
special happens during a
community hymn sing, as ordinary
people from a wide variety of
backgrounds get together and
sing. It has been said that those
who sing pray twice; those who
sing together amplify our prayers
and praises and feed our souls...
something to be experienced and
cherished. So come and join us
on that late Sunday afternoon.
Shout out your favorite hymn for
all to enjoy and sing!
August 25 at 5:00 PM: If
you’ve never experienced music
that combines elements of old-
time mountain music, square
dance fiddling, blues, gospel,
jazz and even popular music,
then you’re in for a treat. We’re
bringing the Doug Flowers Band
to Greensboro! The Doug Flowers
Band is a well-known group of
bluegrass musicians from near
Augusta, Georgia. Their style of
playing is a tribute to this musical
art form. So, mark Sunday, August
25 on your calendar. We’d love to
see you at this musical event and,
best of all, it’s free of charge!
All three events are taking
place at the First Presbyterian
Church located at 117 South Main
Street (next to the Post Office) in
downtown Greensboro. For more
information, feel free to contact
the church at 706-453-4956 or
fpcgreensboroga@gmail.com.
