PAGE 3 Celebration Of Life To Be Held For Hal Stanton Ogletree Hal Stanton Ogletree, Jr., 72, of Crawfordville, GA, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at Wills Memorial Hospital in Washington, GA. Hal was born July 9, 1951 in Washington, GA, to the late Hal (Hoke) Stanton Ogletree, Sr. and Melba Taylor Ogletree. He grew up in Crawfordville and graduated from John Hancock Academy in Sparta, GA, and attended Brewton Parker College. He ran a successful rental business in Daytona, FL, renting out most anything you could use on the beach. In the late eighties he returned to Crawfordville and operated several convenience stores and restaurants. He was a longtime member of Robinson Baptist Church. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed sports, horseshoes and frisbees. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was predeceased by his parents, Hal (Hoke) and Melba Ogletree and a daughter, Nancy Rice. He is survived by his loving wife, Cathy Gail Short of Crawfordville, GA; his children, Brittanie Taylor Ogletree, Nickie Vining (Steve) and Shelly Thompson (Butch); grandchildren, Lacey Bryant (Michael), Toby Batson (Doc), Lindsey Channell (Seth), Josh Batson (Amanda), Cory Silvey (Rolanda), Kimberly Rojo (Sinfo) and Dylan Luke Wilson; great-grandchildren, Kiya Bryant, Kaleb Bryant, Brealyn Marable, Avery Channell, Hattie Channell, Conner Silvey, Logan Silvey, Wesley Silvey, Nathan Silvey, Syrus Rojo and Matias Rojo; sister, Bonnie Ogletree Flynt (Ralph Hoke) of Crawfordville, GA; nephews, Stan Flynt (Petra) and Scott Flynt both of Alpharetta, GA; great nephews, Stanton, Peter and Hoke Flynt; other relatives and many friends. Funeral Services Held For Willie Albert Brooks On November 29, 1954, Willie Albert Brooks (Albert) was born to Mr. Johnny L. Brooks, Sr. and Ms. Lillie Belle Brooks at the U.S. Army Hospital in Fort Gordon, Georgia. Albert spent his early infant years in Norwood, Georgia. He moved with his family to Crawfordville, Georgia, at the age of one and a half and from the age of 3, Albert was raised by his maternal great grandparents, Ms. Mary Johnson, and Jim Johnson. Though he grew up without his parents, Albert had a happy childhood in rural Crawfordville, which included living on Hilly Road and enjoying the pleasures and challenges of rural life. He attended Murden Elementary School, and at the age of 12, Albert and his family moved to public housing in the same block as Taliaferro County High School (TCHS). Albert exceled in all subjects academically, and he was a high school basketball standout. Soon after graduating from TCHS in 1972, Albert enrolled at Tennessee State University, in Nashville, TN as a Physical Education and Health Education major. Albert made the Dean’s List at Tennessee State on several occasions. However, in 1977, after over three years at Tennessee State Albert moved to the Washington, D.C. area, where he lived and worked for over 12 years. In August 1989, Albert got homesick and decided to move to Crawfordville. Everyone that knew Albert knows that he was very generous, and his passions included: spending time with his kids and grandkids, watching sports, cooking, and talking trash while hanging out with family and friends. That same year Albert met and developed an intimate relationship with Ms. Jackie Askew. This union produced five children, sons: Malcolm, Keith, Marcus, and Kevin; and daughter, Monique; other family members includes, brothers: Johnny Brooks (Bonnie), Michael (deceased); sisters, Shirley (deceased), Sandra Elaine, Tawana, and Cecelia; aunt, Mary Howell (Fred), and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Albert’s love for the outside led him to several landscaping-related jobs. However, as Albert grew older, he was able to realize his lifelong dream of becoming self- employed, by starting his pecan business. Over the last 15-20 years of his life, Albert became known as the self-proclaimed “Pecan Man”. Funeral services were held Saturday, June 22, 2024, 2:00PM, at Friendship Baptist Church, 490 M. L. Terrell Robert “i Robert “Lloyd” Pittman, 73, of Claxton, GA, formerly of Sharon, passed away on May 8, 2024. Born on January 29, 1951, in Washington, Georgia, he was a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle. Lloyd led a life filled with unique experiences and cherished memories. He was a 1969 graduate of Warren County High School and also attended Brewton Parker College in Mount Vernon, GA. In his career Lloyd, along with his brother, operated Pittman Packing Company for 26 years, serving in various roles including butcher, salesman, product rd” Pittman development, and product delivery. He also dedicated over a decade to Paramedicine, serving Wilkes and surrounding counties. Outside of work Lloyd had a wide range of hobbies and interests. He enjoyed being a First Responder, hunting, fishing, trapping, traveling (believe it or not), and amateur photography/development. He was also a fan of watching Westerns, baseball, and had a unique ability to watch the races with his eyes closed. He enjoyed tinkering with technology and staying connected through social media. Lloyd is survived by his mother, Norma Echols Pittman and his brother Perry Pittman, both of Sharon, his daughters Dusty Pittman (James) and Amy Pittman, his grandchildren: Kalin Willhite (Darby), Cheyenne Scott (Dalton), Jessie Willhite, TJ Mitchell (Ciera), Nima and LaVadah Mincey; five great grandchildren as well as nieces, great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father “Jack” Robert Arthur Pittman. Graveside services were held at Sharon Methodist Cemetery in Graduates from Georgia State University Reginald Terrell of Crawfordville earned a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies degree with a concentration in Sport Administration from Georgia State University at the end of the spring 2024 semester.
